Not everybody... plus, research shows that if you are in the market for a product, you start paying attention to the advertising, and it isn't annoying. For example, when you make the decision that you need a car, you actually start paying attention to ads for cars...

Yes... some do. But others don't... and then you have things like the Super Bowl, where some people find the ads more interesting than the game.

If that was truely the case, there would no longer be any billboards left. Yes, some limit them, and set rules regarding the ammount and placement... but many embrace them since some cities make revenue from them

If you take a look at an average newspaper, probably 90% of the ads are informative...
And if you consider the earliest and most common form of advertising, signs in front of stores, they are indeed informative because they tell people the name of the establishment, and sometimes imply what can be purchased.
