Nah. We only have to beat Kentucky and Vanderbilt. Rick Clausen isn't the greatest quarterback, but he has enough to get past those two. TN defense has been playing very well and should be able to contain Kentucky and Vandy easy.

If GA looses to Auburn, then UT only needs to win one of those two games.

Tenneessee is still the odds on favorite to represent the east in Atlanta.

Seriously, Tennessee's offensive line needs to be healthy. If they are AND the running backs are on AND the receivers are on AND the defense plays their best game AND Auburn turns the ball over, THEN we may have a chance.

So...There is always hope!!

Guy, putting aside for a second the mid-major argument, which two undefeated BCS teams would you rank Utah ahead of? Personally, I'd have a hard time putting them any higher than 5th, behind USC, OU, Auburn and Wisconsin. Reinserting the mid-major aspect, I don't find it hard to believe at all that they find themselves behind some one loss teams.

TN has a lot of good athletes and playmakers. They are also pretty disciplined. Their coaches should be able to work around the QB problems. I thought they were going to win against ND last week, but the ND running game and ball control put them over the top at the end.

I agree that there is little hope for Tennessee against Auburn. The word that I am hearing out of Knoxville is that they are not expecting Schaffer to be ready. There is an outside chance, but it looks remote.

ND's offense did not win that game. They were held to 3 points and 57 yards of total offense in the second half. It was their defense that stepped up against a cold quarterback and a battered offensive line that won the game for them. Their running game just wasn't happening after halftime. Of course, Tennessee's wasn't happening all night.

I never said that the offense was what won the game. Goulsby's interception and TD at the beginning of the 2nd half did that. But the offense did put them over the top at the end. Minus some sacks, TN was moving the ball tolerably well against ND the second half.

ND had a drive in the fourth quarter of 11 plays for a field goal consisting mostly of 2 long runs. That made it necessary for TN to shoot for a touchdown rather than a field goal. It makes the field much longer when you have to score a touchdown.

It's tough to beat a team that doesn't turn the ball over, was only flagged 3 times for 9 yards, and keeps making you go 70 or 80 yards for a touchdown. It's boring as hell to watch, I'll grant you.

Hopefully, it won't be a blowout. ND's secondary has a way of losing games for them. See BC. Rated 103rd in Division I in pass defense.
