It's his franchise, it's his call. Whether or not his judgment leads to bigger profits — surely a driving force in any decision he makes — is another story, though. Must be doing something right, considering Star Wars is quite the behemoth.

I actually watched Episode 2 for the first time recently and was very pleasantly surprised, it was actually pretty good.

Star Wars is at its best when there is lots of violence, evil, and doom and gloom.

Episode 1 was horrible, too G rated, sterile, and dorky.

ok, I WOULD BE FINE WITH THE SPECIAL EDITION ONLY ****, HOWEVER, IN THE SPECIAL EDITION RETURN OF THE JEDI, THEY REPLACED THE END EWOK SONG!!!!! THAT SONG IS SO ASSOCIATED WITH MY CHILDHOOD, ITS NOT EVEN FUNNY (I HAD A STUFFED EWOK WAS MY FAVORITE TEDDY). AND NOW ITS ESSENTIALLY STRICKEN FROM THE RECORD. BULLSHIT

i must track down the origianl videos and hold onto them forever. and ill buy the specail edition DVDs, but i must have the originals too. Why couldnt he just release both on DVD together? let people choose their favorite, and he can still have his.

Take a chill pill. The original Ewok song sucked as hard as the new song. And your attachment to Ewoks is kinda scary for a (supposedly) heterosexual male .

And the reason he doesn't want people to 'choose their favorite' is because the New Special Edition (SE2, I guess) is the way Lucas wanted it to be done. It's his new director's cut and he'd rather have more whining than release something he thought incomplete.

Just be glad that you are even GETTING them on DVD .

AOTC was pretty good; however it doesn't have all the nostalgia and rebels fighting the big evil dudes so people wrote it off.

I liked the clones alot, they had that classic, "good guy noble cowboy cavalry coming to the rescue" thing about them. Plus it was good to see the Jedi fighting at the end. Then it also had that whole murder mystery feel to it, lots of intrigue.

Purple lightsabres PWN

Plus, the cheeze factor was kept to a very minimum

I'd have to say this was one of the better movies, including the original 3, because it had alot of things going on in it that none of the other movies had, and had probably the most complex plot line of all of them.

I did see influences of Gladiator, Braveheart, and Black Hawk Down in the movie, at least in terms of how some of the scenes were directed

No one from New Zealand can watch Attack of the Clones without cracking up.

Jango Fett is played by well known NZ actor Temuera Morrison who was not instructed to drop his Maori accent, with the result that all the Stormtroopers in the film talk like Maoris.

And the little boy who plays Boba Fett also has a Maori accent and looks and sounds like any number of kids I knew at school.

I was in NZ when it came out and my brother and I went to see it. When that kid said:

"Dare's someone ad da door Dat!"

the whole place erupted, and there were giggles for the rest of the film.

Actually, for a song that brings nostalgia, it doesn't matter if it sucks or not. The value in them is not whether they sound good, but for the nostalgia they create.

regardless of whether you thought it sucked or not, its still a nastalgic part of my childhood, and i know for a fact it is as well for many others
And my affection for ewoks is no more than many people's affection for cats or dogs or something, so are you going to childishly call all those people on beastiality because they like them so much
poor taste

I read the article, i know why hes doing what hes doing. Im saying that he could release both versions and still hold the SE as the true Star Wars as he intended it to be (and make that clear to the audience), and then fans of the originals would be happy with having the originals too. I dont see how releasing both editions makes the SE any less the true star wars in his eyes. It just sounds kinda selfish to me to make everyone conform to him, regardless that he is the creator. the originals are already out of the bag. and you can say "well the originals are still out there if you want them", but i would really like to have them on DVD, as would many people, along with the SE

It came out about a year before Episode 2. So maybe it was too close to have any influence, especially considering those scenes were computer animated so probably took a long time to render.

It seemed like the aerial sequeces looked alot like Black Hawk Down though.

Anakin in episode 1 was annoying.

I thought it was a totally serious scene though.

I think the people that didn't like it just don't like Yoda, or they have an idea of what he is and isn't supposed to be.

That's why I liked it so much because he showed a side of himself that people hadn't stereotyped him to be.
