I think most people misunderstand the special editions. They are not the original Star Wars. They are the propaganda version released by the New Republic. Hence, Han shoots second to solidify him as a noble hero in history. Even the prequel movies are New Republic propaganda. Since the New Republic wishes to bring things back to the status quo before the Empire, they placed the blame of the previous Republic's fall on the scapegoat Jar Jar Binks. It was Jar Jar who let Palpatine slip into power. The truth was that the members of the galactic counsel were either bought by Palpatine or too distracted by their own political infighting to care.

It'll be out december 7th or december 14th and it'll contain much more and much better and much more important extra scenes then both first EE boxsets did combined!

Not as if the first 2 boxsets were not good, they were brilliant, but the Return of the King EE........... give it to me baby!

- the mouth of souran appears at the black gate
- sam and frodo have to march with the orcs in mordor

- Aragorn battles sauron through the palantir
- Sam sees a star in mordor and regains hope
- Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas battle the black ships
- extended paths of the death scene
- Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli resque Eowyn from gotmog and kill him

- maybe (not sure yet) an extended epilogue that deals with the age of men in the 4th age. This should become before Sam's "I'm back" line.

Wooot! I got it today, watched a bit. LOVE having the original trilogy on the DVD transfer, rather than watching it all grainy on basic cable .

And Verto, it's his movie, the changes are peripheral and small, and if you don't like it, don't buy it. No one is forcing you to pay for it. Lucas is releasing it the way he wants to. Your choice.

Apparently George said he wanted Greedo to shoot first, but during the editing process, he couldn't get a good angle to have Greedo shoot first (and miss Han). With the SE's, he could make Han move away from the blast without reshooting.
