While Spam was profitable on Earth, it has only been profitable on planet on rare ocassions. Some theoreticians speculate that the highly selective process used in chosing of people for the UNS Unity (the founding population of the humans on Chiron) gave a population more resistant to spam. Combine that with the reduction of the few spamers (due to higher success rates of retaliation) have created a population with less spam. Some scientists further predict that the lack of selective pressure from spam will eventually lead to decreased spam resistance.
