so I am still looking at laptops (But might just decide for a kickass desktop)
a powerbook has everything I want, but is a mac
the xseries has the right size, but is weak (poor graphics, no cd drive)
the tseries is a little large
all three are a bit more than I would like to pay
toshiba is even more expensive, and weaker and doesn't have as good as name

that is true at least for Gateway
never bought a Dell (although my laptop looks very similiar to a Dell, it is a Quantex, which I beleive is no longer in business)

actually, looking at some web sites, there seem to be some who think that a new powerbook will be coming out in a month or so
in which case, I should probably wait for it, if I am going powerbook

He is basically thinking about 6 years ago or so when the other chips first came on the scene. The early chips were not always entirely compatible, but were mostly so (and AMD was a lot better than Cyrix).
Currently, AMD is better than Intel.

The frequency doesn't matter that much. You should know that sense you buy mac.
