For some reason, I'm having trouble even loading the MGE version of the scenario, although it appears that all of the default text files are the MGE, not FW, versions. The zip file also appears not to contain his readme.
There is only one version of RiverWar.Scn in the zip. When my MGE, running on a XP pc, loads it, I get a "SMEDS Application Error." LF, our_man, since you got further, it appears that I'm missing something basic.
Btw, are you having problems running events.bat at the end of turn 10? Did you save the turn 10 file as riverwar.sav?
Do you have a copy of choice.com in either the riverwar directory or elsewhere in your path (e.g. \windows\system32 or \windows folder)?

Bat file is looking for choice.com, which is not included in the zip file.code:

Since the events.txt and events1.txt are the same in the zip, this file isn't necessary to begin the scenario. It's only needed after turn 10, or after the first time that you play the scen through.code:

The ANZAC
I have just unzipped your 4708_riverwar.zip (thank you very much for sending it)
It provides a very detailed Readme file, but only one game file, named Riverwar.exe
Could you please check whether you have the other game files somewhere?

I managed to install and got exactly the same 23 files.
But, aaaargh, when I try to start playing, I get the following error message:

I'm sorry I do not visit this forum regularly anymore, or use my hotmail anymore (too much spam), but I just noticed this thread.
The problem of v2 at the Spanish Civ Site is that events2.txt is a bit too long for MGE. I have removed some text in the following zip file. It diminishes the flavour, but oh well...

Also, I half finished a v3 for ToT. It's all completely redone, but I fear I won't have the time ever to finish it. Just to let anyone enjoy it, here are the rude structures. It doesn't all work yet as it should, and technologies and later events do not work yet, but it might still be funny to have a look.
The graphics here are all Fairline's work, which I shamelessly stole.. Since this is quite an impulsive post and I did not plan to publish any of it, I didn't even ask Fairline's permission. I hope he forgives me.
