I got the DVD version and it runs really slow. Everything happens in slow motion. Very frustrating. But I only have 256mb ram, so I've put the game aside until I get 512 in a week or two. I think its just swapping too many files. I think that will solve it. I think I know next to nothing about computers, though. But somehow I am convinced this will solve everything.
I also think there is an Easter Bunny and the world is flat.

I found out what was the problem with my machine some days ago. The 3D card's out of function, thankfully my garanty is fixing that problem.

Sims2 was just a game to tie me over until the real Mans games came out.

I don't have the specific link, but should be easy to find at simtropolis... he has made some great houses, and the "stories" are toturials for them

Well, I finished my first game before.

My sim had the knowledge aspiration so gained aspiration points whenever he skilled up. He spent the remainder of his time trying to "woohoo" any female he saw. He managed to get 4 before I got bored of that aspect of the game.

Ironically, the most difficult part of the game came when I had completely maxed all skills and had a stable number of friends. Due to having his skills maxed, he had to rely on other things to get his aspiration points. Due to his interest in several girls, his wants were "Give backrub to girl 1", "give backrup to girl 2"... and completing one challenge replaces it with a want regarding a different girl. *sigh*

Still, having fun.

Nope, at the moment I'm spending my time trying to find a job IRL... why can't the job finding be just as easy as in The Sims, where you just have to read the paper, then you can chose if you want one of the jobs or not

I am playing a bit these days, but the problem is my brother managed to destroy the main Sims2 CD and the C3:C CD, so I have to use a hacked exe. That works fine, except I can't build anything, only use already finished houses... Which destroys a big part of the fun really...

You could probably just download a cd image and burn yourself a new cd, or use an emulator and run it off your hard drive if you don't have a burner.

well, i hated the first sims game because it was downright boring; it was just a glorified dollhouse.

but i decided to... 'acquire' the sims 2 to find out if it was any better than the first one.

well, the sims 2 is not that boring.

at least now we have some goals to achieve. aspiration points and aging add a new dynamic to the gameplay. and i like the fact that the sims can now take care of themselves... i hated to micromanage their bladders in the first game. and now i can get them out of the house too, which is always a good thing.

i started out with a bachelor, and it is the hardest way to start... and i was really desperate to make him woohoo any girl before he got too old for that.

now i have a baby and i have to take care of him all the time... i really wanted the days were a bit longer, because it is impossible to do all that i need to do in a single day (well, it seems like this in RL too, so i guess it's ok).

but in the end (and i can already see drspike smiling ) the sims 2 is still the same boring game as the first one. at least some of the social interactions are pretty fun now. and kudos to the maxis team for the interesting animations and sounds. i couldn't help but laugh the first time i tried to make my sim dive in a pool.

I don't play it anymore. It's my sister who plays all the time. For me, it's enough to do it a little once in a while, if more often, it gets boring. Now, I did play Sims1 a bit more though, since then it was all new.

When I played the first one, it didn't take long for me to see the light, but now it is taking a bit longer... But I guess the light in this case is called Neverwinter Nights. I'll be installing it this next weekend and then I think that The Sims 2 will belong to a distant past...
