Just now on CBS Evening News, they ran an interview with Burkett in which he stated that CBS needed to authenticate the documents. Rather admitted that CBS had not authenticated the documents. He apologized on behalf of CBS. Then he personally apologized. He said that the president of CBS has ordered an independent investigation.

So much for the "being misled" bull.

But Fox did not use forged documents, did they? I would have no problem with CBS if the documents had been true. If the documents were real and did prove that Bush got preferential treatment in the National Guard, that's a legit story. But CBS knew the docs were fake. They knew they doing a show and making claims about Bush that they were knew were unproven and based on forged evidence. That's unacceptable!

I'm sorry... it was bitter before then, and will pretty much always be bitter. I have a hard time listening to either side say the other is worse, or that the other started it... Oh, please. It has become "especially bitter" since the people who are obstensibly closer to your political beliefs started losing in a serious way. But you can't convincingly claim that today's politics are more "bitter" than the politics of the 19th century (Civil War, duelling politico's, etc) or even of the 1950's and 1960's.

Still, there is a big difference between documents not admissable for certain legal purposes and outright forgeries. Suppose these are uncertified duplicates. That means you probably can't use them in a court of law, but they can still be used to, say, study the behaviour of a certain person.

Considering the font used in the documents wasn't even in use back then...Considering that NO document expert that has looked at them has even said they "might" be real...considering CBS's own document people had "serious questions" about their authenticity...Your probably right.

Not without the originals you can't. As long as there is a strong possiblity these are made up from whole cloth, you cannot use them as a basis for anything, other than that CBS screwed up.
