	Can't make anymore scenarios because of XP Put an end to popups!

I was postponing a new computer purchase cause I knew this would happen. Under Windows XP, now the scenarios do not know how to access the sounds in the master Civ2 directory.

i.e. the replacement sounds that come along with a scenario are played but for sound files which are not meant to be replaced, Civ2 should know how to use the master sound files - but in my case it doesn't. How can this be fixed?

I can temporarily get around this by copying all the sounds from the master sound folder into the scenario's sound folder and choose 'not to replace' but I can't keep doing this forever.

Strange...

Under XP on my machine, everything works as normal...

Perhaps you could try resaving the 'scn' files to see if this has an effect...?

Cedric over at civfan mentioned something about changing the 'Start in' box for Civ2.exe in the windows menu bar - I'm going to try that.

I've always had a problem with XP and civ2. Sometimes civ2 can't read the gif's that comes with a scenario, and go back to the original civg graphics. So everytime I want to have the correct graphics I have to export them into bmp's. Then it always works. Anyone know what might cause this?

I don't say the new poll is not useful; the old one doesn't exist probably already.
I attempted to make sounds for Komnenai I think, I was planning units to fit this sound map, but they didn't work anyway somehow, so I resigned.

Back up all of your vital files and scens, then re-install - Possibly the best solution now.

There may be DLL files corrupted or so forth...

I did.

My savegame is named pro.
The civs don't have trade tech yet.
I used civcity to change the commodities in cities.
OK.
But when I entered the sav, and gave trade tech to the civs, the cities have other commodities than what they should have.

About 7 years ago, someone in the office gave me a copy of his FW and later I bought MGE so we could play it on the office LAN (it was a relaxed office back then).....seriously.....by clicking on a shortcut on desktop.

I take it that when you followed Cedric's advice, you actually changed the "Start in" box for that shortcut to the Civ2 directory...
