I'm almost finished with a new scenario . . . .
PANZER BATTLES on the RIVER CHIR!
In the winter of 1942, the German Wehrmacht struggled with the Red Army between the Don and Volga rivers in the deep Ukraine. Twin offensives planned by the brilliant Russian commander Zhukov had succeeded in trapping the German 6th Army in a pocket around Stalingrad. Hitler ordered colonel general Von Manstein to lead 4th Panzer Army in an attempt to breakthrough and rescue the surrounded German army in the beleaguered city. While Von Manstein's forces slammed into the massed tanks of the Russians southwest of Stalingrad, the 48 Panzer Korps stood as a fire brigade supporting several infantry divisions defending the line of the River Chir, just north of the 4th Panzer Army's line of attack. Historically, the 48th Panzer managed to hold the river line, preventing the Soviets from overrunning Rostov and thus expediting the flawless retreat of the 1st Panzer Army, which had been in the foothills of the Caucasus.
This scenario attempts to recreate that operational situation. The units represent regiments, brigades, and kampfgruppen, and the squares represent approximately 20 miles. There is no research. There is no money. There is no diplomacy. There are no air units. There are damn few replacements/reinforcements. There is no relief. As the German player, you must hold the river line, using your armored and mechanized forces as a mobile reserve.
I've begun testing it already. It's together and functional, and it uses a small bunch of fairline's snow-covered Russian and German WWII unit graphics. Who made the "Socialist Realist Cities"? I'd like to use them. Eivind, I'd like to use some of your snow terrain-graphics from your Norway scenario.
More later. . . .

Ok, I played for 25 turns, which the readme says is how long the scen lasts. I got a message on turn 24 saying there's 5 turns left
Anyway, I had a great time playing this scen. Not too many turns and not too many units to handle. On turn 25 I destroyed the Russian civ by capturing their last city. Was it because it was too easy or becasue I'm the best damn panzer commandor of our days?...I don't know
In the beginning it looked as if I was getting my ass whooped on the centre part of the river, so I moved 2/3s of my force in that direction, and the rest northwards. The Ruskies attacked me sporadicly in the centre and I retaliated from the strongpoints and with hit and run attacks from the cities. I lost many units to Russian counter attacks. But my cunning must have been too much for them in the long run.
Now I was beeing harrassed on the northern part of the rive, and from the masses of forces I saw they posessed up there, I had no choice but to redirect my force northwards. On turn 20, or so, I made a bold move towards Surovikino, and it fell. From there I blitzed my way to Kalatsch with an MK IV and an MK III. The inf reserves I got on turn 10 I already then sent towards the now encircled Oblivskaya. By chance they reached the city in time to coordinate the attacks I made in the north. When that city fell, a Russian general came over to me and handed me his side arms (Russian civ destroyed).
A mighty fun scenario, Phenix! I'll give you a thumbs up for this. It's nice with these little scenarios from time to time, were you don't have to read a god damn manual before playing.
What was a bit annoying was that I had to fire those artillery barrages every turn, even though there was nothing to fire them on at some times. Why don't you give that artillery unit the carrier flag, so one can choose to save the ammo. I just aired them over to the nearest town. If this is intentional, that's an ok sollution, though a bit weird .
