If a president cannot even admit to mistakes and learn from them, would you want him/her as president?

Both must be using "fuzzy math" because their numbers can't possibly compute. Both propose new spending, both promise tax cuts, and both want to cut the deficit in half. Ummm. Doesn't work. Gibson was great for really pressing that issue, asking both of them several times to put up some numbers, but both refused to do so. That should bother you more, Fun.

True . . . . . . you and Diss have a point there.

I thought it was an odd question, and not really a fair one, but given that the administration gives the distinct impression that it never makes a mistake, and given that the press mentions it semi-regularly, I wasn't that surprised it was asked. I was surprised that it made it to air, but not that it was one of the questions submitted by the audience.

why don't you just get to the point and ask him if he thought the war in iraq was a mistake. that was the whole crux of the issue, the underlining reasoning that wasn't outright said... and bush addressed that. move on. it's not an issue to be hanged up about.

Actually, it does make sense. Economic growth is healthy, which raises tax revenues even if you aren't "raising taxes." As long as you keep spending increases below about 7% a year (or an equal amount in tax cuts), the deficit will be reduced.

I think it wasn't just Iraq; I think it was the overall reality distortion field that surrounds the administration and makes them believe they're never wrong.

The final question was a fairly partisan attack on Bush from the "unbiased" question selection process. It's not fair to force Bush to talk about his errors, and invite Kerry to talk about Bush's errors, as the very last few words of the debate. I would have been perfectly fine with it if Bush refused to answer the question.
