The ship has 2 MPs/turn, so it would take 5 turns to reach Lal. However it seems to be heading north, back to the Hive continent, so who knows it could still take a loooooooong time before they meet.

Which makes me think, perhaps we should include a little update to your "planetary council convened" article in the next Phalanx. Eg tell everyone that our assumption that the planetary council could be called was premature, as it appears Yang isn't interested in contacted Lal. Who knows all other factions are currently thinking now the council could be called every moment, making them less willing to trade with us.

Now that we'll have cruisers in six years, should we change production in VV to a former or crawler?

Edit: I noticed we can rehome the SC3 scout patrol to Rio Grande => one extra mineral in SC3!

Full PM-box? Change here!

I was thinking that too. It'd be 6 years before a trannie would be completed, and it'd be immedietely obsolete.

How about prototyping that 1-2t-1 Hoplite Guardsman (3 turns)

(We have 14 b-drones now - Rio Grande got one immediately - and Craterwest and Fort Buster will grow to size 2 next turn, which will prolly mean 15 next turn. To counter them, we have 2 Ogres, 8 scouts, 1 hoplite and 4 hoplites in production (2 of them completing next turn)

After that it's 8 turns from now till our next pop growth.

EDIT: - rehoming already done (the turn's open right now)

You mean you'd want to give up our ability to crawler-hurry anything that costs more than 30 minerals? While not massively useful right now, it could become very useful in the near future when we want to build 50-min Navy Seals or Creches, or tree farms.

Btw, a 1-2t-2 costs as much as a 1-2t-1. An extra MP for the same price.

I didn't notice anything with the turn, except that we have a lot of units as moved and sentried. I don't think we'll get any of the sentry effects in this state, but I've never tried that before (shrug).

I coulden't make out if the Gaians are connected by land bridge to Lal's territory, as the light in the room is too bright for me to see the terrain featires in the black tiles.

Enter the AD-FREE zone

So - lots of discussions about what we might do, but nothing concrete.

Should I just open the presend, hit Turn Complete and pass it on and let others get on with the game while we deliberate?

Put an end to popups!

Thing is, I'm not getting the feeling we're deliberating. I'm getting more a feeling that we're throwing out proposals and... nothing.

Well - the turn's not due till tomorrow morning (pacific time) so we'll see what this initiative dredges up.

Worst scenario is that they'll all debate internally and we'll move the turn along with nothing decided

Best scenario is that we'll get 95 ec's next turn (Gaia's 50 plus 3 x 15) then 45 per, for the next 9 years

And we'll have set a price precedent for Ecol Eng, if we want to cash in on that at some point in the future (double the "licence fee", maybe?

It would be fun, but I don't have SMAX, and I probably won't have the time.

Zeiter don't have SMAX either (if you'd go back a few pages I already posted this). SMAC will do fine. It's for people to learn how MP games go. Like training maneuvers (war games) in the military.

And define "not having time".
Have you played a PBEM before?
Takes only a few minutes a day in the begining (first 20 - 35 turns). Then, depending on the complexity you wish to develope your faction, ranges upwards (I can't give you any exact figures here. But can range from 20 minutes to an hour. I think Googlie can do it in 45 seconds...).

Edit: Snoddasmannen, I'm not trying to push you. If you don't have time - no problem. I'm just trying to point things out that you may have not considered (cause I don't know if you've MP'ed or not.)

(and realistically, with the time zones everyone is in, it likely wouldn't be every day either (although it tends to be. esp at weekends) with only 3 or 4 players

7-player PBEMs generally will average about 2 turns a week

Thanks for the info KrysiasKrusader, I appreciate it . The big problem however is that I suspect I would become totally immersed in it and spend hours every day at it I spent a whole week a few months ago dreaming and obsessing about backgammon (!). Have you any idea how well backgammon blends in to reality after a couple of beers btw?

So basically, while I'm sure it would be fun, I don't think I'll risk another obsession, especially right now when I should be writing my masters thesis

I can identify with a few of S's feelings. Being obsessive compulsive is definitly a SMAC byproduct.

So only three of us. Not enough. Too bad. I wanted Zeiter and Kassi to experience a few things...
