That's not true at all. Its only during Baseball season, and only really the hardcore ones at that (probably about 5% each). The rest on both sides really aren't as fanatical as you try to make them out to be. Personally, I NY; the only thing I don't are the Yankees.
quote: I have the utmost respect for the Red Sox. They have shown heart and a never say die attitude. But it is the fans of the Red Sox that I dislike. And I admit... I just want them to suffer due to their actions and whiny complaints. |
First, who the hell are you to say whether or not a fan of any particular team should be as gung ho as they are. Second, as I said, the vast vast majority of Sox fans only complain when something like Grady Little or Bill Buckner happens. It comes with a history of heartache. We're passionate, of course, but any team whos fans aren't passionate have no purpose playing.
Go to Philadelphia. If you want fans to dislike, that's who you should focus on. They installed a frickin' jail in the Vet, for cripes sake.
quote: Remember... I am also a Mets fan... and I don't hate Cubs fans like I do Red Sox fans. You don't see Chicagoans giving the finger to Mets players when they are out on the town trying to enjoy an evening meal. |
Like I said, vast majority don't. And its the same in NYC. I have gotten the middle finger or been shouted at on four (FOUR!) seperate occasions, and I've only been to New York five times. We have a ton of Yankees fans at my college, and the only time I've witnessed any of them being catcalled is while we're all watching the game in the dining hall (and they do the same thing!). My two best friends here are Yankees fans, and the only time we've gone out and been yelled at was by a Yankees fan.

Happens both ways, dude. Its not like people call up Yankees fans and say ****.
quote: Plus the complaints of the salary thing. It is what it is... they are how things are setup, make do and don't complain... they voted for it and accepted it. Now deal with it. Plus, when you are 2nd , right behind in salary it leaves you little credibility compared to the Twins, A's, Marlins, Expos... etc. |
I have no problem being 2nd in Salary, which is why I don't talk about it. In fact, I've only heard two people mention salary. One was LoA. We accept it. We accept that it may take Yankee money to beat the Yankees (and consequently any other team). But the simple fact is that money has provided for one of the best teams in MLB history. It would be a whole lot different if it were a sub-par team.
quote: And just seeing this fool on this forum only fortifies my feelings towards their FANS. Suffer. I only wish the Sox could actually win one but not to let the Boston fans enjoy it. Except for maybe the older more civilized ones. Say the ones that remember 1918 and '46 blah blah blah. |
**** you. Who the **** are you? Damning all of us for the select few? That's very high-and-mighty of you, Mr. Can-Do-No-Wrong.
Oh, and IRT the "throwing back of the baseballs", the Cubs fans do it every game. The Sox fans did it once or twice. The Yankees fans NEEDED RIOT POLICE TO CONTROL THEM!
Who is worse?
Me replying to you like this will probably make you hate Red Sox fans even more, even with well-argued, non-LoA style points. But then again, who said you needed to like us?

You clearly have no empathy for the fans of, say, the Seattle Mariners, the Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Houston Astros, the Texas Rangers... I dunno, take your pick. The Devil Rays. THE EXPOS!!!
Boston is in it every year. If the stupid "curse" talk would just go away, maybe people could enjoy that. Hell, I'm almost starting to hope you win this freaking game so the "curse" bullshit will vanish and we can have a normal rivalry. Almost, but not quite.

This is turning out to be a great series. If Pedro could have just kept his mouth shut, it would have been even better.
