The problem with posting "controversial humor" versus joking with some buddies is the context issue. It's hard for the reader to understand the intent of the poster. Coupled with such a diverse group of members...well it was bound to get a reaction.

WRT your circle of friends...It sometimes only takes a single voice to show others the insensitivity of bigotry. I hope that you will have the courage to be that voice in RL. If more people would have this courage then the world would do much better at dealing with its problems.

Actually, that was 18. But the point is that they're jokes at the expense of jews, which isn't a problem, except that the jokes didn't seem to be making fun of anti-semites but rather agreeing with them.

I think people have learned their lessons about it... it's a personal and sensitive issue for many. Though obviously I wasn't alive at the time, 24 members of my family were killed in the Holocaust, mainly Polish and Dutch aunts/uncles and cousins so it's a sensitive issue for me. I think some jest is fine but you can cross a line.

I agree Whaleboy, but I don't recall any jokes made about the camps or anything like that. It seemed more aimed at current Jewish attitude and the sentiment that jews control everything, especially the media and conservatives.

Trouble is those are arguments used by neo-nazis, and believe me they are a problem for many Jews, indeed my family seems particular subject to people that hate them... we had a lot of BNP prank callers and abusive callers when I was young calling my family that caused a lot of distress. It's that kind of bullshit that many of them actually believe so I think it's important to undermine it as much as possible. Poking fun at Jews after the neo-Nazis have been dealt with is fine, I have no problem with jokes being made at my, or my peoples expense but that depends on life and times, you understand?

It's not funny... (excuse me, I try to stay clear of such words, but as You apologised already...), dumb in some points, but some points were true partially.
I think the reaction didn't quite match the actual content, esp. since it was supposed to be joke.
There's more agressive anti-Polish, anti-Catholic, anti-Christian, anti-religion, anti-USA, anti-French etc bias here going on every day that's more than tolerated.
