actually I have never played the first one, and I'm not sure if I'll buy this one. I'll probably play on my brother's computer before I buy. The fact is, I'm not a real social gamer. No one ever invites me into their party . So I'm not sure if I'll like this game. You can only do so much solo. the tough areas you will have no chance in by yourself. And I don't want to go around killing rats.

The only reason I was thinking about buying it is because there are no other games coming out anymore. Sure, I'll play sims2 until then, but that game only has so much you can do in it. And I'm bored of all my old games.

I'll probably try it. I've had seven months or so crimefighting in silly spandex suits. A good bout of orc bashing is almost mandatory.

WoW is definitely different, but "better" will depend entirely on what you want out of a game.

WoW has alot of potential, but it has two factors that are holding it back in my opinion - it being warcraft, and it being made by Blizzard. Because of this, I expect that it is going to have a player base which is quite a bit different than other MMORPGs, and it will not be for the better.

Another downside of these two factors is that any lore or roleplay that the game has will be an afterthought.

True, but I only pay for my games once, not $10 a month to do the same thing over and over.

I have nothing against MMORPG's, just boring carebear games that present no challenge. EQ is basically a "levelquest" where you just fight a new monster just to gain a new level to fight a tougher monster to gain new levels to fight an even tougher monster, etc.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to play a game without pvp combat. I remember playing Ultima Online back in 1997/98 and always worrying about being murdered. Of course it sucked when it happened, but it made it 100x more fun then just fighting monsters with no risk. I played Everquest for a month when it came out and I think I died once. No challenge whatsoever.

The forum archive barely seems to go back 5 months any more. If it went further I could point you to the big thread where I posted all my CoH avatars.

Apolyton has been so overloaded in recent months that I have ignored the place for weeks at a time as I get 'server too busy' messages after a couple of posts. I know, its my fault for being too cheap to upgrade to the premium service

Pretty much all MMORPG's add content as they go though, so it isn't always the same. I agree it isn't everyone's cup of tea, but continous progression and group dynamics keep many people playing.
