No, doesn't count in an army. It might just be that you can't get a MGL if you have any GL. I know for sure it's only the MGL that does a check though. I've had 3 SGLs at once before.

Yeah, it says that, but if you pay close attention you'll see that it sits at one turn for as many turns as it supposedly saved. Your cities will say they are produciung more beakers, but nothing records them. Trust me, this has been well documented and Firaxians have admitted it. I could even refer you to a thread where Arathorn deeply berates and insults (well into excess) someone who makes this argument.

Here is a game as the Sumerians. It's an HOF attempt and I restarted if I didn't get an SGL at or before Polytheism, which I beelined for. It is the only one I have received so far and I used it on the ToA. If you check F7, you'll see it's my only Wonder and that I did get it rather early, to the point that I couldn't have realistically researched both to Phil. and Poly. I also now have philosophy, and if you check around at F4, you'll see neither of my opponents do. There are no huts, so I must have researched it myself. I do not have a SGL.

) when I researched philosophy first and then I selected literature and got a leader and rushed great library. Then I was left with a ton of pre-built shields I squandered on the mausoleum. Perhaps I should have kept my scientific leader for later. Does it prevent the appearance of military leaders?
