Chapter 1 – DEFCON 1
USS Alabama arrived at the designated location from where she would be capable of launching her nuclear missiles against marked targets in Kazakhstan. During the voyage, tension developed between the Captain and his first officer over the issue of usage of nuclear missiles. Captain Ramsey is eager to launch the missiles at the very first opportunity against them “Ruskies” and “terrorists”, while Commander Hunter is more cautious, and wants to be sure the orders to launch were confirmed before the missiles actually fly. The other officers are compelled to choose sides in this conflict, which doesn’t help the unity aboard Alabama.
The very possibility of nuclear missiles being launched causes the crew to become nervous and fights among them become a common occurrence. In one of these fights, Seamen Bennefield, Sotille and Barnes beat heavily Seaman Lawson because of a minor disagreement regarding baseball. The fight is interrupted when Commander Hunter enters the room, but the three vow to finish the job they have started.

“Helm, bring the submarine up to the launching depth.” Captain Ramsey ordered.
“Helm, bring the submarine up to the launching depth.” Captain Ramsey’s Aide repeated.
“Yes Sir!” replied navigation officer. He then turned to helmsman. “Bring the submarine up to the launching depth!”
“Sir!” interrupted Commander Hunter.
“What is it now Commander?” asked the Captain.
“Why are we going up to this depth? Is the Captain intending to launch the missiles without an order?”
“Don’t be silly Commander. This is just a drill. We must check our weapons and our ability to operate under pressure.”
At that moment, Lieutenant Zimmer cried from his Comm room.
“Comm to bridge! Comm to bridge! We have an Emergency Action Message here!”
Lieutenant Zimmer printed the message and brought it over to his college Lieutenant Westergard. The two then opened the safe and got the sealed codes corresponding to the message. Then they brought everything to the bridge.
Lieutenant Zimmer reported to Captain Ramsey.
“Sir, we have a properly formed Emergency Action Message!”
The Captain compared the codes and said “I concur.”
Then Commander Hunter confirmed the message and eventually Lieutenant Westergard did the same. Then Captain Ramsey read the message outloud.
“This is the order of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to switch to DEFCON 1 readiness. The drill is going to have to be postponed for tomorrow.”

In the morning Lieutenant Hellerman discovered the body of Seaman Sparrowhawk lying in one of the front corridors. He was beaten with some kind of blunt object and his head has been smashed in. It’s a strange thing nobody saw or heard anything, with this corridor leading to the Comm room, Nuclear missile control room and the Torpedo room and being usually full of people at almost any time An autopsy into the cause of death of Seaman Lawson will have to be performed soon and luckily USS Alabama has aboard one of the finest forensic experts in the world, DrSpike.

Good God... Why on Earth did I go onboard on this ship...? Why me, why me... I have never been killed by a scared mob so early in Mafia before, now I know how rah must feel.
But okay guys, try to think vlearly now: Why would I, if I was the Mafia, kill Sparrowhawk? He voted on me as the only one, and therefore should be of no threat, that makes me pretty dumb if I would have killed him ,right? It's rule one in Mafia, guys!
