Arrpee Game: In the Beginning Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was ...

Oh, wait a minute. In the beginning was nothing and noone but Allah. Or was it that garden of Eden thing? No, wait, it was that many-armed many-breasted woman. Or was it a bunch of guys with long beards and drinking problems? Nah, I think it was those half-animal chimaerii with the wierd walking style ...

I forget. It's been a long day, and it's only the *first* of many ...

So which is it?

[ooc: Voting on this poll is to be determined by *majority* vote, not plurality. If a plurality is reached and the majority voted for the same kind of game as the plurality (ie, scenario vs basic game) then the various 'basic game' types will be polled off, unless it's clear which one would win. If the opposite side wins the majority - ie, "scenario-conquests" gets the most votes of any single item, but "basic game" outpolls "scenario game" in general - then the 2 that garnered the most votes will be polled against each other, unless a 3rd option is very close in votes.]

[ooc: Given the choices of civs already made, it seemed appropriate to choose a 'beginning of the world' theme with the various different religions slash theories of creation warred for supremacy. It's not mandatory to be the ultimate theme, but it sounded good so far. ]

[ooc: This game started out of a suggestion of mine in response to suggestions of Modo and others to Chrisius Maximus' desire to play another interesting game, here.]

Suffering from ads?

I voted other scenario. OzzyKP has a world map already prepared. I think he put 6 or 7 civs in, but we could easily squeeze a couple of additional civs in.

I'd like a real History of the World game, with everybody taking one nation and leading it to glory. I suggest we name the game HOTW5.

Oh, well I voted for standard game, but I also agree with playing my map. So... just pretend I voted for that instead.

Some other notes about the map/settings. Its a world map, and to emphasize the colonial period (which is usually fun) I suggest all the players squeeze into the old world (leave Americas open). In the modpack I created I also edited the galleys so they can't cross ocean to avoid suicide galleys that make it to the new world anyways.

Also to encourage trade and negotiation and war over resources I've limited each resource (luxury and strategic) to one per player. All in their general historical locations. So there is a lot of oil in the middle east and a lot of silk in China. Also, so the game doesn't get unbalanced at the start, I've placed an iron and horse within each player's starting sphere of influence.

Of course if we go with 8 players, as it seems, then I'll have to adjust the map a bit, but that's no problem.

As for player locations, I'm thinking we need players in West Europe, East Europe, Mid-east, India, China, Australia, South Africa and either central/northern Asia or Central Africa.

I'll volunteer to play India.

(of course this is assuming everyone votes for the world map game, hopefully enough will to get a game going.)

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I voted for a normal start.

Snoopy, can you explain in this thread, what game exactly you are planning? This might help confused (but willing to play anyway) people like myself.

I second Modo's point of view. I am willing to play but a tad confused on what games are taking place in which thread.

I thought the logical choice would be for the random mappers to use Crisius's original thread, and the Real worlders to use this, but it appears as the fanatical real worlders have hijacked the other thread and pushed the rest of us random's here.

I just want to play and make up some stories.

Fanatical real worlders

Crisius said he wanted to play a world map (see above) so because of that I figured his thread was the world map thread. And now it is

I second Earthworm, but random map is still a posability here. Hopefully we'll get enough like minded people to move to a fresh thread. I'd like to start a game by Friday if not sooner.

PS Ozzy, are you not pleased by the response to these threads. Looks like Diplo games won't die now.

Hi what I said in this thread was that I wanted to play some sort of scenario and as Ozzy had a map that was good to go why not use that

I would like to be included in any game you end up setting up from this snoopy

In my thread I have stated I want to set up a diplo game on a random map !! but unfortunately that has become a little lost in all the attention the thread has attracted. Its all good though as it just proves there is much interest in this format
