Or he could have just waited around for him being awarded a Darwin.

and maybe we need less press so we can resolve some ongoing issues..

H3ll call them Raghead instead.

The day before this Marine and his guys saw a dead body. One of his buddie when over to check the the body, however he was not dead. The body trigger a bomb, killing himself and the Marine and wounding 7 other Marines. This Marine was wounded in the face either at that event or another event later that day (Friday). He was treated by the Medic and release back to duty for Sat.
So Sat. comes and they enter another building and they see all of these bodies laying and one of the body starts to move, so this Marine shoot him. If this body had a bomb all of the Marine would have been killed. But the only way you find out if a body has a bomb is to go over to the body and check it. So you dam if you do shoot and dead if you don't shoot. War is h3ll for sure.

Joeseph, those additional facts seem pertinent. These wounded had been left alone for a day and could have prepared all sorts of boobytraps.

As I said in a much earlier post, there is a difference between a wounded man trying to surrender and wounded man playing dead. One activity is extremely suspicious.

Then they shouldn't have been left alone. Duh. You can't take somebody prisoner, walk away, walk back and then shoot him for scratching an itch (or more likely gesturing to beg for water).

That's both criminal irresponsibility on the part of the command (to leave the prisoners alone) and murder on the part of the individual who shot the prisoner.

Not really. It stands to reason that the guy was genuinely scared of the American troops, and played that hoping they'd ignore him. Cause we all have seen how US troops treat wounded insurgents, don't we?

Saint Marcus, there are examples of Americans caring for wounded Iraqis who they knew posed no threat. In the mosque, one of the wounded Iraqis clearly was surrendering. The other was playing dead. Now why he was playing dead is open to conjecture, but there seems to have been a pattern of such Iraqis triggering booby traps when Americans are close that these particular Marines had experienced first hand in the preceding days.

Given these facts, I think the Marine is not guilty. But, I am only relying on what people here have said are the facts. I assume that the commanding general will hold a hearing to get to the truth.

I would just like to add, Saint Marcus, stories of Vietnam that I heard personally from returning vets. The Viet Cong would equip women and even children with grenades who would approach American positions and detonate them, killing both themselves and as many GI's as they could. So it became almost commonplace to kill approaching women and children who would not stop when ordered. Unless one knew why our soldiers were gunning down women and children, one would instantly draw the conclusion that our GI's were war criminals for doing such things. But one would be dead wrong.
