I'm still thinking about geting it, despite knowing that I'll ultimately regret buying it if I do. *sigh*

Let me know if they've done anythign different with RP servers than they did in the Beta.... and if you play on a RP server, keep me updated on how the community is.

dammit, blizzard needs to make a sequel to Starcraft or some other great RTS... Warcraft3 was too much like an RPG for my tastes.

I'm going to wait untill December 1st to decide if I'll get the game or not.


Partly in a futile hope of winning a contest that I entered and recieving a free copy and subscription.
Partly Because I have a job that I'm busy with from now untill then.
And partly because I want to hear some feedback before making the comitment.



But if I do make the plunge... I'll probably be joining you on the East coast RP server. That is, if they haven't come to their senses by then and made a RP PvP server, anyways. *grumble*

Supposedly WoW is having really bad problems ATM. Queue lines to join servers which can take hours, and in game database lag so bad it can take 5-10mins(or forever). I wouldn't buy it anytime soon. Sounds like the worst MMORPG launch recently by a fair margin.

Yeah the queues were in beta, but everyone thought they were limited to beta. Blizzard are cursed by how popular the game is.

In balance and gameplay terms I think it's in great shape for a just released MMORPG. Shame about underestimating demand though.

There's a huge uproar about the lack of a RP-PvP server, and even a huge petition in their forums. But the official word is still "For technical and customer support considerations, an RP PvP realm, if it does come to life, would not be for a while."


The majority of people who want RP servers also want them to be RP PvP servers. It really blows my mind how blizzard has missed the boat in regards to PvP. Apparently that's part of the reason behind the server problems they've been facing - too few PvP servers in comparison to the "normal" servers.

Okay Blizzard are officially scum, they say you get 1 month free with the game, but you need to either provide credit card details, or already have a 2 month game card, ergo, you need a credit card to play despite what they said. If you don't have a credit card then you have to buy the 2 months card to get 1 month free, but the game cards aren't even out yet! I despise CC's so I don't have one, I'll just have to borrow a family members then cancel the CC subscription when the game cards become available.

Blizzard are whores for saying that you get a free month - but oops you have to commit to paid months before you can play the free month. To me it also stinks of a strategy which name starts with Black and ends with Mail.

Finally got to the play it in the evening, after the CC nonsense then dl'ing a 20mb patch over 56k (I found a website with it on rather than using bittorrent)

I played from 8:30PM to 1AM (completely forgetting to watch a TV show). My Male Troll Shaman is now lvl8. My knees are sweaty. Life is good. I chose a depopulated server so that annoying people wouldn't annoy me while I'm marvelling at the game in general.

I must say I've played games that are outright more addictive (I'm not tempted to play until say, 5am) but I suspect there will be plenty of longlivity, maybe a thousand hours.

I remember when MMORPGs where $10 a month and the idea of making them even $13 was a huge controversy.


But it probably won't be long before games will be charging $20, soon.

Come on, someone with as much time as you have to play games will play, what, 5 hours a day? That's $15 for 150 hours, or 10 cents an hour. Sounds cheap to me.

I don't have so much time to play these days... and frankly, I don't really want to play games that much anymore. I've actually been... *gasp* working this week. And I want to get started in pottery in the coming months... I've recently realized what a waste of time, energy, and creativity computer games can be.



But anywho.... what makes you think someone who's got alot of time on their hands can keep playing 5 hours a day if the price is hiked by 50%? a few extra cents an hours can be alot of money to an unemployed game junkie.

Looks like the **** has really hit the fan for WoW. Servers crashing enmasse with no warning and Blizzard giving no response or explanation untill hours after the fact, while their forums are going ape-**** and their only response can been to lock all the threads and say "we're aware of the problems and are looking into it".


Of course, all those MMORPG junkies will forget this ever happened the moment the servers come back up and they can go back to killing giant bats.

I'm glad I was able to resist temptation in buying this game.
