Apolyton Chess Club : a new challenger please Put an end to popups!

After my victory against Ken, I am waiting for a new challenger. The first new one (I mean one who hasn’t played for the championship yet) to step up will be chosen. If after a week, no new challenger has defied me, I will accept the defy of an old one in chronological order (Kcbob, Carolus, Smash, Ken). The deadline is Saturday the 27th at 1am American East-Coast Time (7am Central European Time). If neither a new, nor an old challenger has defied me by that time, I will take the first one to come up later. I hope it is clear enough.

218??? I wish. 248 is more like it. But, would you believe today I started on a diet? I promise.

Anyway, I digress.

Choose my pieces? Could I see something in a tweed? No, then how about... white!!!

Not yet, although your first move was one the strongest possible.

I suggest we keep with only the algebraic notation. But if you are not confortable with it, we might use the descriptive too. It is as you pleased.

All seriousness aside, I try to follow the principles I learned from a book by Fred Reinfeld titled "The Complete Chess Book". In it, he had a section devoted to the nine bad moves of chess. Learn them and your game improves immensely. Then again, at the time I read the book, I had nowhere to go but up. I still feel that way after seeing the competition at Apolyton.

Smash,

I also started with Rheinfeld, Chess in a Nutshell, 1964 or 65 I think. Just because all you young whipper-snappers follow Das Wunderkind, Herr Fischer, doesn't make the older players out dated.

No offense intended.Fred's books are good when used,as you pointed out,at the very start of one's "career".

Herr Fischer?? naw..,too whiny. My favs are Alekhine and Capablanca. Also Paul Keres. His last tourny before passing was here in Vancouver. Its now called The Keres Memorial.

I didn't know of that one ! BTW I didn't mean your move was but, just that I'd never seen it. And believe me that I've played some dutch defense in my life.

Wunderkind Fischer was already one of the best in 1964 or 65 ! Who was this Reinfeld by the way. I know Marshall, Pillsbury, Morphy and so on, but not this one. And Smash, I saw an Owen game, but it seems he never played the now famous a6 !
