1. The so-called Sci-Fi Channel
a. Does not show Dr. Who, Blake's 7, Space 1999, or a host of other classic shows.
b. Does show as many badly acted, cheap looking or otherwise unoriginal shows/movies as possible.
c. Cancels shows if they are good.
2. Wingcommander the movie. Could have been so much better.
3. I, Robot. What the **** does this have to do with Asimov's classics? Oh, yeah they both have robots.
4. Starship Troopers. See above.

I don't think that I, Robot was really all that bad. Sure, it was a little absurd at parts, but the main story was very similar to something Asimov might have written (if not actually identical).
As for Firefly, that is a disappointment but all reports suggest the movie is truly great. They're on a contract for three movies, so it's doubtful we'll see a new series any time soon. Still, any Firefly is good.

So would've it been better if the movie was called something else then? I can see how that might make a small difference but I gave up hoping the movie would be a straight adaptation of an Asimov story when I heard Will Smith was involved. In any case, I'm not convinced an adaptation would have worked that well.
At least the producers didn't pretend it was an adaptation. I think it said something like, 'Inspired by stories by Isaac Asimov'.

There should just be a disclaimer for any of these types of movies, be it historic or sci-fi:
WARNING: This movie will not satisfy geeks. Please try to remember it is for entertainment purposes only.

Actually, there are an explanation. Humans doesn't come from earth, they come from mars.
Saw Mission to Mars a couple of days ago, and was really dissapointed - they could easily have cut those two hours down to 15 mins.
Something dangerous looking happens - do the take cover ? no they just stare at it.
Their spaceship get punctured - do they isolate the area ? no, they loose almost all air.
and it continues throughout the film.
