Games Wish Lists Put an end to popups!

I know Christmas has came and gone among other holidays where you get loot.. .er presents.

I have a small wish list of games, they all are on the PC platform. Not neccessarily in the order of preference or anything like that.

Pirates!
Tribes: Vengeance
Rome: Total War
Vampires Bloodlines
Baldur Gate 2 (complete collection)

The following are I'm kind of interested but not yet sure if I want to buy those:

Beyond Divinity (the version that also includes the first game)
Diablo 2
UT 2004

If I had PS2 I'd look at DDR and Dynasty Warriors series. Other than that I do not know too much about console games.

IRL I do not have that much spare time to play games so I am very reserved and choosy about what I buy. So I'm curious what you guys are interested in - so far you guys seem to have good taste in games

I will not be much help on what to buy. My recommendations would be Half-Life 2 and Rome:Total War - I don't like RTW, but it's great for those who enjoy wargames.

I have a very big wishlist for this year, though.

Civ4 - must-get, the day it's available. Civ game, and therefore overrules any other game.
Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion - another game in an excellent series, and looks to be possibly even better than Morrowind
Age of Empires 3: Age of Discovery - they make great RTS games, and I'm curious to see if Ensemble can also make a decent one this time around. Most probably will be very good for multiplayer fun, as always.
Stargate SG-1: The Alliance - I'm not sure about those TV-to-game things, but this one seems fun.
Doom3:Resurrection of Evil - I want the expansion even if it's just more of the same - but it looks to even have some new stuff in.
SWAT4 - in its time, SWAT3 was probably the leading tactical shooter. With a modern engine, this one can be an interesting continuation of the series.

Plenty of releases for me to look forward this time around .

Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

some of these might be older games. some aren't out yet

Pirates
Knight of the Old Republic II (not out yet- for PC)
Civ4
Elder Scrolls 4
I hard good things about jagged alliance- 2 I believe. I'd like to try it out.
beyond divinity I might want to try.
Europa whatever that name is. Never tried it. I just think it's too risky to pay for. There's a good chance I won't like it. But this is a wish list after all. If I got these game for free I'd try the out and see if I like them.
Master of Orion- never played them.
dominions -2 I believe.

TES IV is definitely on my list, I didn't include it since it's not out yet. Same for CIV. I prefer to wait for reviews before making my decision.

I want to get Pirates...it's just that with limited funds (and time) it's on the backburner.

Right now I'm entered in a contest to win it. If I don't, it might be the summer before I pick it up. It looks fun...just not something I want right now.

These two are both awesome, though Europa Universalis can be a bit of an aquired taste (I didn't like it much right after I bought it, but when I picked it up again a few months later I really got into it).

Cheapskate. Sure to play for 3 months will cost you $30 more than with a normal game, but if it is your main game you will get 150 hours of play easily. You've posted $1/hour as your target, and WoW or CoH will hit that with ease.

Yeah, RTW is good, but it's just not my style of a game. I still understand it's great for its genre though. Civ 4 might be out for next Christmas... maybe. No real idea here - nothing has been announced.

SWAT4 was scheduled for this spring. AoE3 is only going to get announced, but it's scheduled for October/November.

And yeah, AoE2 is still a great game .

I wouldn't mind it if it's a next year release as long as the game gets the polish it needs. I'd rather play a polished Civ4 a year from now than a buggy Civ4 10 months from now.

Everytime I read a statement like this I wonder what the company thinks

would it be:

A-Release a great playable game

B-Release a Great Playable Game then patch it

C-Ask Marketing what they think.. never mind we know what they want

I do agree Solver..lets get a good playable version..

question will still be..by whom's standards

Frankly, based on Firaxis' previous release schedule, 2006 would be pretty much definite. The only way I can really see 2005 would be because of whoever the new publisher is.

Well, I prefer old games:

If you don't have them already, I'd suggest:

*Europa Universalis 2 (a great TBS/RTS/Risk hybrid!)
*KOHAN: Immortal Soverigns (Possibly the best RTS ever- no downtime, and its story based!)
*BG2 is a great game, I must agree- but I also suggest BG the original and Icewind Dale II (two other amazing games)
*And if you're still waiting for THE MOVIES, how about you pick up HOLLYWOOD MOGUL, a text-based, but addictive game about the same situation. You can order it on the internet. It runs like Baseball Mogul and other text-simulated things and you can hire and fire actors, directors, etc. and write screenplays and fund all sorts of different things from SfX to advertising!
