Look, Skro, I don't have any problems with a "We'll kill everyone, then we'll duke it out at the end".
What I do have a problem with is having two teams say "We'll kill everyone, then we'll declare shared victory", as then those two teams never have to fear the backstab that accompanies an alliance. It unbalances the game in such a way that there is no counter balance that can possibly restore enough balance for a workable demogame.
yet another problem is that why would a shared victory alliance stop at containing only two teams? Why not add another team? and another? Why don't all six of the teams just say, heh, lets all sign a joint victory, and we will all win the game. Hurrah, we won, we won...
If anyone wants to argue with me, I suggest that you go and read the Game Disscusion thread in the PTWDG public forum before you post on this issue.

Krill,
I was just kidding - no shared victories. It is obvious that no one wants that mess in this game.

No argument from me. Beautifully said.
I think we should have explicit agreement from all teams that the concept of a 'shared victory' will never be entertained.
Back to the original debate/discussion, I'm gald to see that no rules were bent or broken.
However, that being said, I like the idea of no OOG discussions until an embassy is established, and alliances having to be declared via the F4 screen. It would add an interesting elemnet, and more importantly, an early game 'leveler' of sorts to ensure all teams get off to a good start.
