So, the game is taking shape...

Vanheim bought those mercenaries, but promptly lost them again.

Man has made a Castellan his prophet. A mage would have been a better choice, in my view.

Caelum is sequestered in a relatively poor peninsula, although their mobility ensures that they will not stay there for long...

Meanwhile, in R'lyeh, the Starspawns tap unspeakable forces, whilst their hybrid thralls extend the reach of Kire over the nearby surface-dwellers. Undersea bandits have hampered tax collection, however.

Why? I usually make a castellan my prophet with base man. You already have stealth preachers, so making a bard your prophet is not super useful. The various wiches are already sacred so you won't save much on upkeep my making them prophets. On the other hand a you need a castellon to lead your army anyway, and he has nothing better to do than cast morale boosting spells in battle. Plus, he will spread dominion in newly conquered provinces.

The witches are pretty fragile, and you've only got a limited supply, so I like to prophetise one just to improve her survival chances.

Eh, all but the weakest ones can cast air shield, and if they get in melee, being a prophet is not going to save them.

You could also make a monk into a prophet in order to have a priest of a decent level, which Man usually lacks as their priests are quite weak in terms of preaching powers and spell casting.

Making a monk into a prophet would not result in any better priest. If the unit that you make a prophet is already a priest, it increases the priest level one. If the unit is not a priest, it makes them a priest level 3. In other words, having priest level 2 does not help with respect to making them prophets.

Yes, Caelum has been plagued by mismanagment as of late. Seraphs attacking provinces, only to discover that their summoned allies had arrived earlier and where already dead. Soldiers constantly fleeing from battle... often disapearing entirely. And even a lone seraph who, without orders, attempted to kill an army of trolls all by himself. (I honsetly don't know how I managed to accidentally send him without noticing )

But this sort of chaos is unsurprising when Caelum must deal with raids from Vanheim on a weekly basis. Apparently, the winged people of Caelum are the only ones not intent to submit to the barbarians of Vanheim (who, incidentally, now have more than twice the magical resources than every other faction combined).

Magical movement happens before regular movement. If you'd used cloud trapeze to transport your mages, it might have worked (although I'm honestly not sure).

I guess i should play the game more (I haven't been playing any single player games), so I can get my head around all those little nuances that get me every time.

Or you could do what I do, play MP games that are in the style of single player (meaning taking one turn after another, all in a row). Every weekend a group of dominions players gets together on the GameSurge #dominions IRC channel to play games like that for a few hours.

A seraph met a tragic fate this turn, when he was captured by the wind and pulled towards the capitol of Vanheim where he was thrown down to the ground, and promptly killed by a large army of R'lyeh who where sieging the tower.

More fighting has taken place in the Eastern Ocean and Southern Continent, none of it of any significance (at least to R'lyeh).

I expected great things from Vanheim, but they don't seem to have much fight in them. Apart from that nasty-looking pretender.

I might try this, although I'm afraid that I would slow the game down. I sometimes like to take my time with a turn.


But I'm craving more dominions 2 multiplayer goodness.
