How about 8-8-9 from Ta-tu? (ps can we rename that to Ta-ta! ? Yeah I know I'm mental) That's pretty good chance of coast. can grab the dyes, use the wheat to grow and has a bonus grass in it's intital squares

I would agree w/plato on that one if we are getting close to discovery... though we should be prepared in case the iron ends up falling right next to our neighbor. How were we trading this iron again?.... we turn it over immediately or we are waiting 1-2 turns to give ourselves a head start?

It is my belief that Euphorica will have wheel before us... a turn or two.

So once we have Iron, we send to them accepted, then they send wheel to us accepted.. or visa versa...

Either way the idea is for a fair trade with them, they being an alliance that we want to develop

According to our agreement with Euphorica we must give them iron accepted the turn we get it. And we are honourable.

Got spare money?

So, does this mean we are building this city for trade w/ them per our agreement before discovery of iron. Do you think they would back out of the deal if Iron is found up there in them darn hills or am I just confused over what this trade route deal is all about. I thought someone mentioned that we are to build a city somewhat close to their border.

We have no reason to believe that Euphorica will not hold there end of the agreement.

A road to Euphorica will allow trade of goods to flow

My understanding is that we are building on this first hill (red circled in most pics) as it is prime settler pump real estate

Small question here. In our preparations of city placement, is there a future plan for an exisiting city or future city to at some point build a wonder? I know that the Statue of Zeus was mentioned at one point, though I couldn't remember what thread. I agree it would be quite advantagous, however, I agree that Euph. may very well be building such a wonder assuming that they have no intentions of going to war w/ anyone.

Civs that start wonders at this point are likely to go down. After we have dealt with the Porkers decisively, we may consider building a wonder. However on small pangea lands wonders are not top priority. Statue of Zeus is nice to have but not at all cost.

Let's discuss our future city locations. I suggest: The settler form KBH builds a city on top of that iron and the settler from Ta-Tu builds a city on a hill 2-1-1 from Bokhara. This city is very important strategically as it will become our basis of operations against the porkers. It will be only 7 spaces away from the pig capital and our units will only cross mountains/hills, never grass.

OK, the Porkers now have iron working, so we should adapt our plans in view of this new and unfortunate development. Also, we have underestimated their military strength, and since they have so may warriors I advise caution now, not outright attack.

I suggest we change to settlers in Bokhara and KBH since we won't be attacking the Porkers soon. However, I don't want to leave the Pigs off the hook so to say (the pigs really belong on the hooks).

I think we must hurry with one of our settlers to the spot which is in the direction 8 from the Porker iron and settle there. This city will deny them iron and cripple them much more in the long run. Then we prepare for our attack in peace and quiet.

However, this city must be the most heavily fortified place on Earth. We must have 2 swords in there, the archer we built and a couple of warriors. Then our workers must connect this city, we must rush build a temple and a barrack there (not necessarily in that order) and it will become our base of operations. We can also have this city built on a hill in te direction 7 from the Porker iron, but that will make it vulnerable to war chariot attacks, so we need to ponder on this a little bit more.

Ljube and I have been discussing the above.

While I do not agree on all elements at this time, there is some merit in settling their Iron, and getting the spices and bananas at the same time

the following pic shows the two described settlement locations, and the goodies

We could even name the city - Pig Iron

Ok, Ljube has asked that I explain my comment "While I do not agree on all elements at this time"

It has to do with this comment from Ljube...

.

If we were to change to settler in Khan's Blood hall now, then the settler would be ready in 4 turns.

"Khan's Blood Hall" pop 3 - archer in 3
Growth in 4 turns

So if we build a settler here then the pop will drop by 2, grow by 1, and thus be two... This is very early days in the game, and I believe that the benefits of this city being allowed to have some growth before the next settler will greatly assist the nation.

If we do change to settler, then it will thus take extra turns to build settlers and military units... KBH has no corruption, and thus is the perfect city to develop for building military units.

As to Bokhara, we should indeed be building a settler there now.

"Bokhara" pop 3 - settler in 9
Growth in 8 turns

Hope that helps mate

Dye City Support Apolyton, buy GURPS/ Alpha Centauri

We need to send a settler to produce a city that will give us dyes...this will allow cities to get to size 5 w/o going into riots. I have attached an image to show the most likely spots. I personally prefer the river, even though it requires one extra road to be built.

Hmm, I don't think lux is a priority right now (we can always use lux slider), but if we're set on it, I'd like a city on that forest 7-7-7 from Ta-Tu. It's in accordance with XooXooX city spacing.

Suffering from ads?

Yes, I like 7-7-7 from Ta-Tu as well. I would say that the city that was proposed 2-2-1 (I hink that is correct) from Bokhara should come first ue to its strategic value...and of course Iron city. Beyond those two, I think a dye city would be a quite welcome addition to the Khan's growing Empire.

well we have a settler heading up the river towards the Euphoricans from Bloodview soon

the new city on the Iron may be a good settler pump very soon,

and we have needs for troops for the Porkers offensive

lots of decisions upcoming indeed...

Ok...let's just remember that each luxury can increase city growth by 2 (one for happy, one for unhappy), thus, with 1 luxury, our cities can be size 3 (w/o lux slider, of course); with 2 luxuries our cities can reach size 5.

I agree that we can use the luxury slider, but as corruption begins to show its ugly head, the lux slider becomes subject to corruption as well...

The only other alternative is to use MP's and I really don't want to do that when we are planning a war. Thus...we can not make the iron city a good settler factory until we deal with the happiness in the city.
