I would agree w/plato on that one if we are getting close to discovery... though we should be prepared in case the iron ends up falling right next to our neighbor. How were we trading this iron again?.... we turn it over immediately or we are waiting 1-2 turns to give ourselves a head start?

So, does this mean we are building this city for trade w/ them per our agreement before discovery of iron. Do you think they would back out of the deal if Iron is found up there in them darn hills or am I just confused over what this trade route deal is all about. I thought someone mentioned that we are to build a city somewhat close to their border.

Small question here. In our preparations of city placement, is there a future plan for an exisiting city or future city to at some point build a wonder? I know that the Statue of Zeus was mentioned at one point, though I couldn't remember what thread. I agree it would be quite advantagous, however, I agree that Euph. may very well be building such a wonder assuming that they have no intentions of going to war w/ anyone.

OK, the Porkers now have iron working, so we should adapt our plans in view of this new and unfortunate development. Also, we have underestimated their military strength, and since they have so may warriors I advise caution now, not outright attack.
I suggest we change to settlers in Bokhara and KBH since we won't be attacking the Porkers soon. However, I don't want to leave the Pigs off the hook so to say (the pigs really belong on the hooks).
I think we must hurry with one of our settlers to the spot which is in the direction 8 from the Porker iron and settle there. This city will deny them iron and cripple them much more in the long run. Then we prepare for our attack in peace and quiet.
However, this city must be the most heavily fortified place on Earth. We must have 2 swords in there, the archer we built and a couple of warriors. Then our workers must connect this city, we must rush build a temple and a barrack there (not necessarily in that order) and it will become our base of operations. We can also have this city built on a hill in te direction 7 from the Porker iron, but that will make it vulnerable to war chariot attacks, so we need to ponder on this a little bit more.

Ljube and I have been discussing the above.
While I do not agree on all elements at this time, there is some merit in settling their Iron, and getting the spices and bananas at the same time
the following pic shows the two described settlement locations, and the goodies
We could even name the city - Pig Iron

We need to send a settler to produce a city that will give us dyes...this will allow cities to get to size 5 w/o going into riots. I have attached an image to show the most likely spots. I personally prefer the river, even though it requires one extra road to be built.

Ok...let's just remember that each luxury can increase city growth by 2 (one for happy, one for unhappy), thus, with 1 luxury, our cities can be size 3 (w/o lux slider, of course); with 2 luxuries our cities can reach size 5.
I agree that we can use the luxury slider, but as corruption begins to show its ugly head, the lux slider becomes subject to corruption as well...
The only other alternative is to use MP's and I really don't want to do that when we are planning a war. Thus...we can not make the iron city a good settler factory until we deal with the happiness in the city.
