I've never been in such a situation, so I don' t know... but I believe that if I come in that situation I'll just end up doing nothing unless I'm 100% sure that no innocents could get harmed if I attack

It's not that I would freeze, but because I know my abilities and that I probably wont be able to help the situation

Yes, I would and have once. Nor deadly force obviously, but I have defended myself when attacked by a group of guys. They ended up in hospital with a broken wrist (he had a can of mace, wasn't going to let him use it), a broken nose and some bust ribs. They never bothered me afterwards anymore (I was 17).

Since then noone has threathened me anymore anywhere, probably large due to bulking up slightly (6'5", 225lbs, not much in the way of fat).

Yes, I have a history of violence.

I think I would try to keep it in check, even if faced with an attacker, however. I know I have the potential of being violent, but I'm not sure that I'd use it - it's really circumstantial, I suppose, and up to the split second actions and reactions of that exact moment in time when it happens.

However, I don't think I would get violent with someone who had a gun under many circumstances at all, even if I wasn't trying to keep a check on my self control.

I certainly have been violent in the past. But the OP frames it as a life or death situation, which I've never been faced with. I'd like to think so, but I suppose it depends on the circumstances.

I dont really know. The two occasions Ive been mugged I let my reason control, and reason said that giving up a wallet in a situation where i was, in one instance outsized, and in one instance out numbered, was the rational thing to do. Of course in those cases it was only a wallet at stake.

The closest Ive come to a Supercitizen situation was at grad school, which was in a rough neighborhood. I was walking to the library, in the evening, heard noises from the bushes, and walked toward them. A guy took off down the block, and a girl (another student, whom I didnt know) emerged, saying she was alright, nothing had happened yet when he ran off. I suspect I was very lucky he ran rather than stood to fight - i have no idea what I would have done had he not run.

I'm one of the most pacifist persons you'll ever meet, with a physique to match. I literally wouldn't hurt a fly (instead, if it's bothering me, I'll catch it and release it somewhere where it can't bother me anymore). Everyone around me (possibly bar my parents) probably thinks I'm completely incapable of any kind of violence and would get my arse royally kicked if I ever got in a fight.

But in reality that's a farce, a thick layer of self-discipline to hide my true nature: in my childhood one wrong word or look was enough for a good pummeling. A lot of kids and a few adults in primary school and in the neighbourhood where I grew up still have scars and renmants of broken bones as souvenir from me. When I was pissed off, I was a vicious uncontrollable animal and friend nor foe, child nor adult was safe from me.

Of course, that made it hard to make any friends and to get anyone to like or trust me, so over the years I grew over that and learned to control myself through self-discipline. People who didn't know better have tried to test me on numerous occassions but haven't succeeded in the last 12+ years. One of the primary reasons why I don't drink alcohol is exactly this: I know it will lower my self-control beyond safe levels.

But if it ever really becomes a matter of real necessity, I can still let go of that control and let the animal out. And then noone will be safe (including innocent bystanders, unfortunately) and it will take nothing short of complete incapacitation or 'victory' to stop me. I doubt I'm a very capable fighter (I have neither the physique nor the training) but I'm extremely persistent and very resistant to pain, and in the right state of mind I'm quite sure I'm capable of deadly force (which is something that scares the sh*t out of me).

I've seen people I would never have expected just stand there when an explosion goes off or people start shooting. One fellow I had to grab and yank down behind the hesco barrier because he was just standing there with his mouth open.

Commiting actual violence is pretty easy. You just aim and squeeze. Turburski has another point about some people getting so excited they just start spraying bullets every where. They got the squeeze part but forgot the aim part.

I would if I had to.

My friend and I attacked a bloke a couple of weeks ago when he tried to steal my phone as we left a club. We just shoved him against a wall and drew blood with our nails on his arm until he let go of it.

If we had been sober we'd probably have let him get away with it.....but we were not in the mood to be ****ed around. If provoked, I will always use violence - and in a case of self-defense/defending someone I loved, I wouldn't even think twice; I reckon its a semi-instinctive reaction.

I'm a nervous person with drastic reflexes. I once KO'd my brother because he reached for a ketchup bottle with a bit more speed than I was prepared for. When I realized what was happening he was already falling towards the floor.

1) Exactly 2 people have said that in this thread (me and DRoseDARs). Far from everyone.

2) I never said I've never fought. I've been in hundreds of fights. The last time was just a long time ago (fortunately).

3) People need not look out for me at all, 'cuz I don't hurt a fly. Only if there's really, really, really no alternative would I ever go violent. I would prefer taking a few punches over fighting back (I've been there), so it would really have to be a life-or-death situation.

4) I'm by no means a killing machine. As I said, I have neither the physique nor the training to fight well. Against half-decent and/or multiple opponents I would probably get my arse kicked, but that wouldn't stop me from trying to return the favour.
