I like the broadly different play styles in starcraft, which no other game does as well. (Warcraft 3 tried, but is too hero focused)
I mean you look at a lot of games, like AoE. There is rock paper scissors there, but it is the same rock paper scissors for every race (basically), with Starcraft it is very different.

yah, well AoE of course didnt have races, but Civs, which were differentiated, but subtly(restrains self from mentioning historical accuracy). I suppose the high differentiation of SC helps make multiplayer interesting.
OTOH if UR is right, and the scens arent going to get more different than they have been so far, Id have to say the AOE SP campaigns are superior(as far as varied gameplay, that is - SC of course has more elaborate "continuity" material - in AOE you want more "Continuity" you go read a book or see a movie about the period). and yes, Im talking AOE, not AOK.

lol, perhaps ... but I loved playing the protoss. Mind you, I sucked *totally* compared to serious players, but I could generally (in MP) beat an average player who didn't spend 40 hours a week playing... (this came out while I was in college, so a lot of people around me did spend that long )
But as Protoss, especially after playing the Protoss missions, I could survive for a LONG time, assuming I built a few units very early on and didn't get super-rushed. I mean, Protoss shields and repair meant that I could pretty much survive anything later in the game - I might not win, in fact against a very good player never would, but whereas as Zerg I'd either win or lose within an hour or so, as Terran, lose within 1.5 hours, as Protoss I once played a 6 hour game ... 3 player game, I survived to 2nd place sort of - never finished actually - I just bounced around from crystal patch to crystal patch, built a ton of shields in appropriate places, until I used up the patch; scouted for another, and moved on. It was admittedly a huge map, not sure what size but big enough... but it took nearly an hour for each base to fall, especially the ones below the rim where all I had to do was keep the terran tanks from burrowing in and nuking me. It was great fun ... always on the move
