Far from ignorance, i learn a great deal at shul, and have free, and RESPECTFUL debates, including about G-d. Really you dont know what youre talking about.

In the US suppressing anything that religion might lead to would include suppressing civil rights, social justice, and a great many other things.

Yup imps and devils are out, and the way most people think of a "jealous G-d" is anthropomorphic, and thus idolatry, per the Rambam.
Heres the bio of an apparently lesbian zionist rabbi - seems a lot freer, and more self actualized than any poly tubbies, or most folks on pubs.
"Rabbi Ayelet Cohen became a full time rabbi at CBST in June, 2002, after two years at CBST as a Cooperberg-Rittmaster Rabbinical Intern. Rabbi Cohen was ordained in May, 2002, by the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. At her ordination, Rabbi Cohen received the Albert Pappenheim Prize for Practical Rabbinics and the Israel H. Leventhal Prize in Homiletics.
Rabbi Cohen received a BA with honors in Comparative Literature and Judaic Studies from Brown University in 1996; her senior thesis was awarded the Susan Colver Roenberger Prize for excellence in Hebrew scholarship.
Prior to attending Brown, Rabbi Cohen was a Curator’s Assistant at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem (1992). While at Brown, Rabbi Cohen was a Women’s Peer Counselor, and held Programming, Teaching and Research assistantships. She was a summer Conference Intern for Coalition for the Advancement of Jewish Education, New York (1993). At Brown, Rabbi Cohen worked extensively on Arab-Jewish dialogue, and taught classses in Palestinian-Israeli literature.
In 1996–1997, following her graduation from Brown, Rabbi Cohen worked for the Knesset in Jerusalem as Communications Advisor and Translator. In 1998, she was Education Director for the Masorti youth movement’s Noam Camp in Lancashire, England. In 1998 and 1999, she served as Student Rabbi at Keren Ohr Synagogue, Nice, France; in 1999–2000, she served as Student Rabbi at Adath Shalom Synagogue, Paris, France, and worked as Advisor and Translator in the Office of the Israeli Minister of Justice in Jerusalem.
Rabbi Cohen worked as a Rabbinic Intern at Ma’yan, the Jewish Women’s Project, New York (1999), coordinating Ma’yan’s creative Jewish rituals data base with other national Jewish feminist organizations. Her community activism also includes working as a volunteer chaplain at the Family Assistance Center for families of victims and survivors of September 11, lecturing and facilitating university, synagogue and other Jewish and interfaith groups on Jewish, feminist, and gay and lesbian issues. She was the Coordinator of Keshet, the Jewish Theological Seminary student group advocating ordination and full integration of lesbian and gay Jews into all Conservative movement institutions, and participated in the Interfaith panel for Women’s History Month at the Riker’s Island Correctional Facility.
In her two years as a Cooperberg-Rittmaster Rabbinical Intern at CBST, Rabbi Cohen created and taught classes in CBST’s Lehrhaus adult education program on Jewish History: the Big Picture, Arabs and Jews: Portrayals in Contemporary Literature, Hebrew for Absolute Beginners, Torah Cantillation, Ruth and Orpah: A Rabbinic Recasting of the Cain an Abel Story, Avinu Malkeinu: Where Do I fit in to the Yom Kippur Liturgy, The Times We Live In: Reflections on a post 9/11 World from a Faith-based Perspective, Tzedaka at All Times, and When is it Time for Blessing: an Introduction to Mishna. She also created programming for college-age members and served as liaison for regional college student Jewish lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender groups.
As Cooperberg-Rittmaster Rabbinical Intern, Rabbi Cohen also served as CBST’s Coordinator of Children’s Programs, directing the first year of CBST’s Kollel Mishpacha after-school program. She designed the curriculum, hired, trained, and supervised teachers, and created and conducted holiday children’s programs and special events.
In addition to the Pappenheim and Levanthal Prizes at the Jewish Theological Seminary, Rabbi Cohen has received the National Elie Wiesel Award for excellence in creative campus programming (1995), a Dorot Fellowship in Israel (1996-1997), and the Brown-RISD Hillel Founders Prize for outstanding leadership and contribution to student life (1996).
