Loud talkers are annoying sure and tehre are places where taking a phone call is not appropriate but in a MALL??? Whats wrong with making a phone call in a mall?? next thing I'll be told I shouldn't talk to my friends ( standing next to me ) in public.
If a movie theatre or restaurant wants to jam inside their business ( posting notification signs) I would be fine with that . . . but these portable jammers just seem like a way for people to piss off other people for fun

With one of those and a TV-B-Gone, a person can now reduce the noise pollution.

JUst fine as we survived without automobiles, airplanes, air conditioning or personal computers . . .
I resisted getting a cellphone and I still leave it at home sometimes . . .
But I don't see why someone can't have a converstaion on their cell phone in a mall or while walking down a sidewalk. 90% of people talk no louder in the phone than they do to to people in person.

Or profit. Look at the article's last line. Seems some hotels engage in jamming, so people will pay the exorbitant hotel phone fees. |
Ahh- ya missed that one-- see it should be easy to get the lefties against jammers if they are being used to boost corporate profits.
.. . and don't get me started on hotel phone charges-- after spending a bunch on the room they charge you for a local call?? and it seems the more you paid for the room, the more they charge for the phone call????

I need one. Both for fun and for work.
It would be great to have in lectures to stop students' phones from ringing. |
See-- a jammer in a lecture hall I could understand-- just like movies or restaurants-- You post a sign so people know jammers are in operation and be public about it ( assuming this would be legal)-- I actually LIKE the idea of phone free zones.
I can see if these jammers become popular that the new thing will be special or high frequency phones that defeat jammers . . .
There was a moment in a West Wing episode where a member of a Chinese government delegation answered his cell phone while astonished staffers commented that they thought they didn't work there.
