The thing about youth "ageism" is that we all outgrow it. Plus, I don't know one person who doesn't think that they were an insufferable *****/***** when they were teens. I'm not going to rush out and give voting rights to 14 year olds. I didn't think that I deserved them then, didn't have much of an understanding of politics. Giving kids that young the right to vote would be defacto giving those kids' parents double votes. Few children that age have views that differ from their parents.
On a side note, the idea of an "emancipated" 7 year old is completely ridiculous.

In a perfect world ppl would only vote on matters that affected them, and would only be taxed/responsible for such issues. However, in this world, we all pay for everyone regardless of age, position, or whether you use something or not.
If nothing else, the youth should consider the curfew, not being able to drink, and not being able to vote a mode of payment for free education and rather limit responsibilies to society.
Again, in politics, you generally have to play to the whole of everyone and the excpetions, sadly, get ignored.
