Azazel, an average male chimp is about 2/3 the weight of an average male human, but far, far stronger, faster in short bursts and aggressive at that. There was a case of a woman (yes I know) who had her arm completely mauled by a chimp in captivity, like for like, weaker than those in the wild, and all her efforts to wrench her arm free failed.... I doubt a man would have had more luck.
Without weapons, a human would be defenseless. If he had fire, perhaps a big stick if he knew how to use it, and a bow and arrow, perhaps our human would prevail. Naked man, naked chimp? No contest.

That's why I said "In a forest enviroment", silly. There, humans have all the weapons they need against a chimp.
