No actually most atheists I know are very kind, decent people. A lot more decent then christian fundamentalists as yourself. Atheists are very credible people with good ideas.

Look. Before the 19th century prophecy was not very well understood and scholars got it all wrong, mostly because back then almost all prophecies could not possibly be fulfilled without supernatural intervention. Today however, 99.9% of all prophecy can theoretically be fulfilled through technological means and about 85% of it has already been fulfilled this way.

Classic example of:

Which reminds me of Arrested Development.

Better chuck out pagan inspired festivals then, if we're going to get back to 'original' Christianity. No more Christmas for you, no more Easter. No more nonsense about three wise men (who weren't kings, but astrologers, who we know are a class of men the Bible tells us are to be shunned and despised) and stables.

Which of the 57 varieties of 'original' Christianity would that be anyway ?

The Pauline Hellenized Judaic version, or the Jacobite Jewish leaning version ?

Would it be the Arian or Athanasian version ?

The 'organized' church or the Gnostic church ?

The arrogance of Christian sectaries, each of whom claims to have the 'true' or 'only' way never amazes me, because it we hear it so often now.

Atheism is actually on a rather strong rise in Canada. I have no idea as to the worldwide numbers, but I doubt it's declining in Western Europe or Japan either. The rest of the world had very little atheism to start with, other than the US. Since the US doesn't keep track of religious choices of its citizens it would probably be hard to quantify.

Atheism has never been very strong here, KH. We have been an exceptionally religious country since the Great Awakening in the early 19th Century. At best, there was a strong Deist following among the intelligencia of the founding generation.

If current trends continue in about 15 years there will be more atheists than protestants in canada, and atheists will be the second largest group (behind catholics)

Having an religious affiliation doesn't necessarily mean not being an atheist either.

In Sweden, over 80% of the population are members of the Church of Sweden. A recent poll found that 16% of the population believes in a personal God.
