Wasn't this guy cuffed? This is why they should be cuffed in the back, not the front. Though you can't really have them stand trial in that position for 8 hours. There must be a better way.

Given that he was willing to kill to escape punishment for a lesser charge my guess is that his priority lies in not being caught at all, not in avoiding the DP by getting the Canadian government to gain that assurance before it deports his ass.

Plus he stands a very low chance of getting across the Canadian border at all. When somebody like that is on the lam I'm pretty sure the border guards are given a heads up...

If he was cuffed it would be a lot harder, but still possible (especially if she was on the smaller side). He's 6'1 and presumably in good shape. He could easily come close to being double her weight. Slamming her with his body against the side of the elevator a couple of times could have stunned her before she had a chance to draw her weapon, and given hime a chance to grab the keys from her belt.

Only if they're Mexican citizens, whereas Canada won't extradite anyone facing the DP. If the prosecutors take the DP off the table, both countries are quite willing to extradite.

b) yes there is something she should be able to do. Cops need to protect their weapons. I wasn't there, but I can tell you that it's a lot easier to take a gun from a 5'3 110 lb woman than it is from a 6'0 190 lb man.

I don't think that women guards should be put in situations where i's going to come down to a wrestling match between them and adult males. They're not going to come out on top most of the time.
