I woke up about 15 minutes ago, went to bathroom and put my contacts in. The left one was bugging me so I took it out washed it well, then put it back in, it was bothering me even more. So I took it out, unfortunalty it slipped out of my hand and down the sink . So I got a new, opened it, put it right in, my eye was still bugging me, so I took it out and put it in my case. I then put a few drop in my eye to moisturize and clean it out, but it feels like theres a grain of sand or something stuck under my eyelid now, I looked under it and saw nothing. What can it be?

Yes, they dont get in your way, they dont smudge, they give you a full field of vision, and on -20 degree days they dont give your ears frost bite.

And I would gladly put my glasses on right now just because that one eye is bothering me, but Im house sitting for my sister and brother in law and I dont have them with me. Normaly if an eye bothers me I wear my glasses for a couple of days.

From what I understand lasik surgery can only repair minor vision problems.

also with lasik surgery you run the risk of screwing up your vision even more than it was before.

Um, you are going to completely destroy your eyes in no time. You are not supposed to have contacts in your eyes for more than 8 (or is that 12) hours a stretch, otherwise nasty microbes are going to start growing on your cornea. |
This is an UM. The lenses are protected by the eyeliquid just as the eye itself is. Soft lenses comes in several types and the difference is how good they are to keep their moisture. One day lenses isn't that good to this - if you sleep with them you have to wait taking them out until they are wet again. Week and month lenses are much better (and more expensive) at this but you have to change from time to time due to mineral deposits from the eye liquid.

It's not that bad - put your fingertip on the lens and try to move it. If you can, it's safe to remove it, otherwise wait.

Do you have a link / reference ?

It's not about moisture. It's about the lack of oxygen that allows anaerobic microbes to thrive. |
Thats a part of it. If the lens get dry it can't transport oxygen, but as long as isn't you are ok.

The problems with angiogenisis were with the earlier extended wear contacts. The newer ones breath much better. Simply follow the manufacturer's recommendation - which mean do NOT leave them in for three month you can create lesion, infections, all kinds of nasty results.
If somehting gets between your contact and eye the first time you put it in, you can scratch your eye. If when you put it back in it stays irritated, leave it out. And if you have a massive correction - as in you are correctably legally blind - contacts are nice because they have almost no distortion. I cannot see straight lines when I wear my glasses, hell, the ceiling looks curved.

I require bifocals, so I'm screwed. I wore contacts until I entered medical school, then I discovered that wearing contacts and dissecting formaldehyde embalmed cadavers didn't mix. Later I discovered that wearing contacts and being on call all night didn't go together too well either.
