I'm still pissed off at the Catholic Church for interfering with the last Presidential elections in the United States. Some bastard Catholic Bishop claimed no Catholic should vote for Kerry since Kerry was divorced and his plateform said he would uphold the US law which alowed abortions. That Cathlic spokesman also called upon the excommunication of Kerry for the same reasons as above.

As far as I'm concerned the RCC couldn't get more political then that. They're lucky I'm not in charge because I would have revoked the RCC's nonprofit status (only nonpolitical organizations can legally hold nonprofit status) and then I would have confiscated most of their property when they couldn't pay the massive tax bill. That would teach those damn priests to keep their opinions to themselves.

Have you ever been to Latin America? I wouldn't call them advanced compared to the first world. Even the industrialized parts of Asia are better off then most of Latin America. The most powerful Catholic countries in Europe are France & Italy (with Spain and Poland much further down) while the most powerful Protestant countries in Europe are the UK & Germany ( with secondary powers in Scandinavia & Holland). The US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa were founded by Protestants and still remain very influenced by Protestant ideas.

I'd say Japan and South Korea are at least as advanced as the leading Catholic states and with many of the most powerful countries in the world being Protestant (at least in tradition) it is hard to claim Catholics countries are the most advanced, most developed, or richest.

Canada is technically the leading predominantly Catholic state.

S. Korea has also rather taken to Christianity over the past while.

France, Italy and Spain are also up there. So 4-8 is pretty good, considering that the others are the UK, US and Germany for the protestant nations.

FYI, this catholic versus protestant countries argument is excedingly dumb. Germany is as much a catholic country as protestant. The US is about a quarter catholic too. Northern Italy is just as advanced as Germany. Austria is no less advanced than other European countries and is catholic. The most productive country in the world per capita is Luxembourg and is catholic. Ireland is about top of the tables for production per capita. Etc.

It was the right stance. Catholics should not vote on people who want to allow murder of innocent children.
It's morality, not pure politics. Voting on someone willing to legalise abortion is like voting in favour of legalising abortion, and catholics should not do it. You're an enemy of religious freedom.

And this changed how many votes? Zero. Apparently, you are pissed off because of something that had no impact on the election.

What was telling was how Kerry responded to it. Kerry looked uncomfortable when any question about his faith came up. Whenever any question of Bush's faith came up, Bush just kept hitting the balls out of the ballpark.

Hezbollah is into charity as well.
China occupies Tibet and fills it with Chineese.
It destroys buddhist temples and makes harm to monks, it persecutes catholics trying to force them to denounce obediance to the pope. Its officials are killing Tibetan children with hammers. It's just declared a will to use force against Taiwan. Cultural Revolution. Square of Heavenly Peace (??), Uygurs, support for Nth Korea,
occupation of part of Kashmir, support for maoist guerillas...

In fact I do not.
If You forecasted weather having some competence in it, I would perhaps believe You. But no-one's able to say anything about political future but rough guesses.

The Nordics are the most socially advanced in Europe. I guess Spain has improved somewhat in the two decades since I was there. I think Austria is a pretty decent country. China and India can't be called upcoming, because of their long history and great past. And does comparing Catholic vs Protestant nations really mean much with so many of these nations so secular?

Are the teachings of Jesus less civilized than the believers of Roman Mythology, for example?

I've said religion. Christianity is religion, catholicism is a denomination. And there are slightly less catholics than muslims (muslims however are a group of denominations, so it's probably the biggest denomination in the world).
Your mistake.

The reason for them, is because without this, much of the work that the church does would not be able to happen.

Go ahead, ignore every single charity set up to help alleviate the things that the government would just prefer to throw money at.

Catholics: leading the Western world in infant production. They own that industry.

As for the Kerry thing, considering the way Kerry paraded his faith as a selling point to middle America, it's only fair to allow some portions of the church to retort.
