Question: at what point is it pedophilia? If you're looking at pics of 10 year old girls, that's icky. At, say, 16 years old, they're still minors, still technically children, yet there are some smoking hot 16 year old girls out there, and prurient interest in them is markedly diferent than interest in a prepubescent girl.

So, legally, I suppose pictures of anybody under 18 can be considered child porn, but there is a real difference in the appearance of a true child (10 yo) versus a young woman (16 or 17 yo). The first indicates interest in children, the second in (young) women.

And I know the issue at hand involves boys, but my point still stands. Although both are legally pedophilia, one is very different from the other.

I think a ban on gay leaders is crap but no organization can ever "totally" protect themselves. You can do background checks, interviews whatever but I don't think folks will just pipe up and say " by the way, I get my jollies from looking at children"

It's interesting because if you have sex with a minor, it's only considered paedophilia if the child is under 14 years old (this can vary state to state country to country). Vs having sex with someone over 14 and under 18 is just statuatory rape.

but... If you have any kind of naked pictures of people under 18, all of it is considered child porn.

I don't really see them as a hate group. I don't like their policies but I recognize they have a right to freely associate or not associate as they please. What's funny is that the Scouts is possibly the biggest shirtlifter recruiting agency in the world. I know plenty of gay guys who lost their virginity at Scouts. Like many of the things that that sprung from the era of muscular Christianity, the Scouts is deeply and subliminably homosexual.

The fact that the book is called Scouting for Boys is a dead giveaway.
