do you realise how little R&D would get done without government funding?

we would know next to nothing of the inner workings of atoms for example...

A majority of R&D is not government funded nowadays, and that which is government-funded is predominately defense-oriented and probably not well spent. It is true that some areas are better funded by non-governmental entities than others, on the other hand.

Giving students the power to sue their professors because of perceived left-wing political bias is certainly heading down that path.

Wasn't there a thread awhile back about demands for universities to be required to hire more conservative profs?

Make that "unintelligibility" then. Some German texts are blatantly unreadable because of page-long sentences, and because of atrioucious, longer-than-your-arm adjectives. And German is a language where you have to read the whole fricking setence before understanding it!

Given that Phd's in private business probably earn 5-10 times what professors make, the people in universities either are not good enough to work in private industry, or they are handicapped in some other way.
