The "Keyhole" software Google integrated (and bought some time ago) has been around even longer than that.

The fun part is now you can switch between map and satellite instantly...

When you search for Chinese Food restaurants on Google Local, you can view the map and then a picture.

You that's what I was talking about multimap being able to do.

In fact not only that but as you move your cursor over the satelite image it superimposes a bit of local map...

Nah, the brown areas are areas of higher detail. They don't have the green areas in yet.

No, two are statues and one's an aluminum rocket. There's also a signpost with distances to all over the world. Right next to Lenin is a fish taco place. Unfortunately, when I was there, I had just goten my tongue piereced, and so I couldn't appreciate how good they were. There's also a zillion antique stores over there.
