I it when I'm right!

UEFA President Johansson made a personal remark. He isn't the executive committee, which has been against the idea. Johansson just said that England should go through the formal process, and personally, he's receptive to the idea. Not exactly a ruling for Liverpool. UEFA will not give England 5 spots if Liverpool wins.

EPL doesn't deserve 5 spots -La Liga, in the very end of the millenium deserved it much more - but they didn't get it, did they?

Exactly Az, which is why I think the executive council won't approve it. Johansson is just trying to be all diplomatic, and by saying its his personal opinion shields him when UEFA votes England down.

"Fair" doesn't come into it. Liverpool and Madrid are big clubs, Real Zaragoza isn't. Thats life.

I'm not saying it's right, but Liverpool *WILL* be in the CL next year if they beat Milan. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a niave fool (no offence Imran!)

Yeah, probably. Who cares?

If you put yourself in the place of say the Moldavian league winners, who would you rather play (get knocked out to) in the qualifiers, Liverpool (TV money, gate reciepts) or the runners up of the Austrian league?

It could very be the mean bankruptcy for the team that gets dropped. I think the EUFA will face a lot of protest from smaller countries, eager to not let this happen.
I doubt they want a precedent on this and face the same thing as team that may get dropped this year.

I do see a play-off happening between Liverpool and Everton though..

For a small club playing Liverpool on TV could stave off bankruptcy, my post before was badly worded, but if you were a small club and had the choice of getting the money for playing Liverpool or getting the money for playing another small club and probably getting knocked out either way, which would you pick?

Although , it seems that if Liverpool get in, it won't be as the 'fifth' place, they'll be seeded into the league stages and the second place in England (Arsenal, hence Wenger diatribe before Sundays game) will have to qualify.

Yep, I got it on right now .

Great game for two teams with really nothing to play for (any points won't matter to either team at this point)

Chelsea had gotten the record for most points in a Premiership season with this win, the commentator said. I'm glad it happened against the Red Devils .

Nice one.

Ferguson has made some awful signings and still hasnt replaced Beckham or Schmeichel, next season will be fun to watch them slide even further.

They need a striker as well. They didn't score nearly enough this year.

They won't buy a striker, the lack of goals is down to the formation he's played (4-5-1) and the fact that RVN was injured. To me, at home they should play Rooney in thre hole and two out and out strikers. Liverpool made the same mistake a few years ago with Jari Litmanen and it cost them the title IMO. At home we should have played Jari, Owen and Heskey instead of two out of the three.

How long was cheat van cheatlerooy out for this season? Was a while anyway.

The rest of the side is either aging, inconsistant or steaming turds. Ill believe Ferdinand is still England class when I see it.

If it was JUST Van Nistlerooy, then ManU doesn't have much to worry about, even with the GK problem. They were 2nd in the Premiership in goals allowed (with 25). They needed help in goals scored. Perhaps it was the formation, but the defending seems to be top notch (though still 10 more than Chelsea gave up).

As Maq says the side is ageing in a lot of areas and quality replacements are not being brought in. The GK question is a tricky one, goals allowed isn't always a sign that the goalie as crap, just as often it means the defence/midfield is poor as well.

If I was Fergie I'd sign Cudicni (sp) and a holding midfield player first and then loof at the full back positions.

They don't need a striker. They got a whole bunch, including Rooney.

Their problem is they lack a solid mid-field line, that's how they can't beat the weaker teams that have strong tackling and interception.

Full PM-box? Change here!

Saha and Smith aren't really used often enough (though with Saha, part of it is that he gets injured every other game)... like SAF doesn't trust them. RVN was injured, but he's getting older all the time. And like reds said, Rooney would be better as a withdrawn Forward who makes attacking runs.
