Darn, really wish I could be there and help you and Sophie recover from the ravishes of last nights cold pizza. Sorry to hear that she's vomiting and that you have a "pit in the middle of my stomach."

Really. I am sorry and I do wish to be there.

Really.

I guess I'm stuck with my original schedule of going to the movies (note to self: Call Imran) and my fave Mexican place up in Lawrenceville.

God, that sucks.

See ya' tomorrow, babe!

I like business trips in general. Free hotel and food, and I often work far less hours than I do while in the office.

And I'm always glad I'm here when I hear tales from my brother about the sick nephew or niece. Yes, I only want to deal with them when they are cootie-free.

Meh, I'm there all the time for Sophie. You can't guilt me.

Anyway, her mother wanted to be a stay at home mom and that is exactly what she is. While I'm involved with Sophie to a degree that few men are, there are sometimes when the reptilian (i.e., "guy") part of my brain says

spoiler(highlight to read):
You're the woman. You take care of it. Sophie's your job, see? I'm doing my half, now you're being called to duty on your half. Deal with it, and see ya tomorrow.

Most of the time you bite your tongue and cheerfully pitch in 'cause it won't get done if you don't help. But this time... this time, I'm off scotch-free.

Tired of ads?

This is the first time in 3.5 years that I haven't had to deal with something like this. Being human, yeah, I'm pretty relieved that I don't have... nay, can't... be in the same house with two complaining and/or sick ladies.

And honestly, it's not as if Sophie's ill. She just ate some bad pizza. She was even playing on her jungle gym this afternoon.

Suffering from ads?

My view, being a non-father is that it's better to keep the bucks rolling in, since being in business trip anyway and being able to come back then as soon as possible. How is it going to help to make business more difficult, when you are able to participate usually all the time? Nah... teh good father vs providing father is when the providing father never even sees the kid and they grow apart.

I hope you can keep that promise. But it's hard.

I remember once, my dad got laid off during an economic downturn when we lived in Santa Maria (3 hours north of L.A.) The nearest job he could get was in El Centro, down by the Mexican border. He would drive home every weekend (5-6 hours, one way) to be with the family. After several months, things picked up and he got a local job.

Sometime a man's got to do what a man's got to do. It's great if you can be with your family. But you gotta pay the mortgage and put food on the table.

Not too sure what that last sentence meant, MRT, but let's not forget that it is the career that's keeping me away from Sophie. If I were unemployed, I'd have all the time in the world to take care of her.

However, I am providing for her, even when I'm down here. Sophie has a wonderful, loving mother who is there for her 24/7. Her Godparents (Aunt and Uncle) are both doctors, one a GP the other a gastroentro... ist (stomach and pipes) and live but 5 miles away. And Knoxville is home to no less than 5 regional hospitals with 2,600 beds (more than twice per capita than, say, Los Angeles County).

So she's got her mom with her 24/7, a strong extended family support system, and a strong local medical system. Sophie is going to be just fine.

Anyway, I'll be back today... probably by 3:00pm this afternoon, so the entire point will be moot.

There is now.

Just as there is no noun that cannot be verbed, there is no verb that cannot be adjectived.
