yes you do - evidence which is prejudicial to the defendent and may prevent the defendant getting a fair trial - that is what I think we're talking about in this case but I haven't looked it up yet

Child molesters should be sent to institutions and not prison as I've said before. And they should not be let free. Unless it can be proven they are better? How do we prove it? show them their favourite kind of porn (when they were sick) and if they get a stiffy, they aren't cured. .

I just don't think it's helpful to put child molesters in with the general prison population. And it certainly isn't helpful to let the roam the streets.

I think it all comes down to money. Most states do not have the mental health infrastructure to handle the large numbers of paedophiles.

I agree with those who think we should seperate pedophilia from unlawful consensual sex with teenagers. It seems as though the justice system here does a pretty good job of screening and sorting the many people who run afoul of these laws these days. Given that there are quite a few types of people who wind up in trouble for violations of these laws it is no small thing.

Fixated (or exclusive type) pedophilia. The fixated pedophiles consider themselves to be trapped in childhood. They usually have minimum relations with adult peers, and relate better with children. They are identified mainly as men and their primary interest is in boys, with whom they develop boy to boy relationships. They typically plan their activities to promote access to young boys through church, neighborhood, or sporting activities.

Or in certain cases building a private amusement park and preying on the diseased children of dysfunctional parents.

Regressed (or nonexclusive type) pedophilia. On the other hand, the regressed pedophile is not ordinarily attracted to children. Those with regressed pedophilia are typically heterosexual married males and most likely to sexually molest 8 or 9 year old female children. Some pedophiles complain of anxiety or tension related to employment or marital relationship as precursors to pedophilic impulses, as well as alcohol or drug usage. They view the child as an adult substitute, and relate to the child in an adult to adult manner. The first sexual encounter is usually sudden and unplanned.

This type commonly manifests as incest. A similar sort of relationship (child substitute for an adult, sans sex) is quite common in dysfunctional families. It's really bad for the kid either way, but given the choice I'd rather have trouble with relationships than have trouble with relationships and trouble with sex.

The regressed type is considered very difficult to treat, and in part because of that they are typically sentenced for long terms, which reduces their ability to victimize others / screw up recidivism rates. The situational / regressed type is much more likely to respond to treatment and more often shown leniancy.

Low-level sex offenders should be put under house arrest after thier sentence and time in a mental institution. Mid-level offenders would be sent to fenced off "prison towns" that the offenders would not be allowed to leave after prison time and treatment. High level ofenders would be sent to a mental istitution for the rest of thier life after imprsonment.

Furthermore, it behooves me to clarify my opening post: I would apply my solution — banishment to an Arctic prison of some sort — only to repeat pedophiles. IOW, first-timers — although just as disgusting as their repeat brethren — would get a chance to prove themselves capable of rehabilitation. There wouldn't be any summary banishment for them.

There. Doesn't that sound like a nice, reasonable balance between those who subscribe to the rehabilitation-at-any-cost notion and those who prefer the punish-at-any-cost option? Yes? Unfortunately, in today's world, that means it'll likely never come to fruition.

The funny thing is that the alternative swimwear for little girls is whole-body swimming suits (whatever you call it in English); you never see little girls in the kind of swimming pants boys (and men) commonly use. For reasons good or bad, little girls exposing their chests isn't considered desirable. Can't see why bikinis are necessarily worse than suits.

I do see a problem, however, with bikinis and lingerie for little girls that intentionally mimics adult versions that are aggressively sexy.
