JAPANESE PUBLISHERS SAY "WE LOVE XBOX 360!"
Konami, Capcom, Sega, Namco... they're all big fans of Microsoft's next-gen machine
13:02 An all-star line-up of Japanese publishers has gone on the record to talk about the joys of developing for Xbox 360, reinforcing the next-gen console's status in Japan.
Given the near irrelevance of the current Xbox in the Japanese gaming market it's easy to forget just how impressive it is for Microsoft to have stirred up such vocal developer support for Xbox 360.
But stir it most certainly has. After the high-profile signings of Mizuguchi, Okamoto and Sakaguchi, Microsoft last week unveiled a last as long as your arm of third-party developer support for the Xbox 360. Thirteen of those developers are based in Japan.
Big names who have previously ignored Microsoft's console like Capcom and Konami are already working on 360 titles, while Sega and From Software have both reaffirmed their commitment to the cause.
In the latest issue of Japanese games bible Famitsu several publishers and developers have talked about their plans for Xbox 360 - and how exciting it is to be developing for the system.
Konami focussed on the Live aspect of 360, suggesting that it will target its graphically-rich games to a worldwide online audience (Pro Evo on 360, anyone?), while Capcom highlighted how the console allows developers to harness its awesome power without too much hassle.
Sega, meanwhile, spoke of how it fully expects the specifications of the 360 to allow for truly revolutionary games. Sega is working closely with Microsoft, apparently, and already has numerous Xbox 360 titles in the works, one of which will be survival horror Condemned.
With such enthusiastic support from Japanese companies we'll be surprised if Xbox 360 bellyflops as badly as its little brother out East. It'll be interesting to see how Sony react to this PR onslaught as it gets ready to unveil its PS3 at E3 next month. |

I thought they should have allowed generic flash cards in the system, so that people could manipulate their pictures, etc.
