I said it, and they may of said that promotions ussually occur around the 2 year mark, but yeah, I agree with rah that promotions should be based on merit and not on tenure. However, my company is so damn big they wouldn't no merit if it overtook the company.

Talked with a recruiter today, have a phone interiew with a hiring manager on Wednesday for a job in Louisville

Sometimes it's amazing what you find when you do a keyword search on careerbuilder. I typed in "engineer" and got some strange ones. Ironically I found a job perfect for Che!

Just got rejected from a position I interviewed in Denver last month. They didn't even give a reason, just a "we are not going to hire you and we have not filled the position". In an e-mail nevertheless. I e-mailed them back asking why, because I felt the interviews went very well.

Oh well, guess it wasn't right. However, at least I can get some BS excuse out of them!

I've been rejected for a series of jobs at my university because I am a caucasian man.

I've spent a great deal of analysis and time thinking about it, then I realized I don't know more then one caucasian male who holds any of the positions I applied for and I know dozens of people who hold the positiosn I applied for.

It depends. Sometimes a promotion is just a change in job title with more pay but essentailly the same job functions.
