All right, I have to admit you've done a lot on this Leo. Maybe it can work.
I've registered, and I'd like to start work on the contest pages. But there's no information on how to edit. For example, I'd like to get rid of some of those little buttons cluttering up the rules section. How? I want to upload Mercator's map so it can be downloaded as well. Can you link to an editing guide?
Also, on the scenario page, I think it would be preferable if we organized it according to members. John Ellis is a fine scenario designer, but he's not active on SL and never has been AFAIR. Can we set up pages for our active members and allow them to edit them themselves? I'd like to see a page for Curt, OM, Exile, etc.
The same goes for graphics. Instead of sorting by period, could we do it by artist - Fairline, Tanelorn, BE, etc?
My suggestion is that we make this site member focused, which will encourage participation in the site, and will distinguish if from other sites out there.

Okay, I need to make a tutorial or two, maybe write some guidelines, and then start recruiting volunteers. Feeling a bit under the weather right now.
Also, I think the best section for volunteers to start populating is the Tips one, and it's not ready yet.
Creating New Pages
Do you see the title bit in the URL:
sleague.apolyton.net/index.php?title=Bonaparte
You create a new page by changing it to your desired page title and hitting enter:
sleague.apolyton.net/index.php?title=Bonaparte
sleague.apolyton.net/index.php?title=Red Front
The easiest approach is to copy the contents of a similar page beforehand and edit that. Edit and preview. Edit and preview. Edit and preview and learn.:P
(For questionable reasons, I've been turning everyone into a category. Exile turns into Category:Exile, Mercator turns into Category:Mercator, Jim Panse turns into Category:Jim Panse, and so on. If you place a [[Category:Exile]] bit at the end an article, a link to it is automatically created in the Category:Exile article.)
Learning Notes
A lot of the pages start off with a short table, and that's probably the hardest bit of learning a Wiki.
By Period
The pretty scenario and review listings are copy-and-paste rather than automated. It's not as scary as it sounds. We should worry about By Period listings and stuff like that later, when there are more people comfortable with the what's being done. They aren't hard to add, but there are probably cleverer approaches that aren't yet obvious.
Ideas:
- lists of Favourite Scenarios by members of the community
- etc.

I'm a little leery of uploading numbnails right now, I don't have Nemo's permission to use one his unit graphics as an icon, but I'm going to use one anyways because the Raging Dragon thumbnail just doesn't fit for the scenario
EDIT: much better now, but would someone please rewrite my description?

This is how I originally had it, but then I remembered Colwyn's v1.5, which since it is by a different author probably deserves a seperate page?
...
Also, that description of Red Front is pretty poor, mostly a filler while I did the rest of the page, but now it's plastered on half a dozen pages, is there no way to make it where we only have to change it once and not several times? Keep the continuity without the extra work?
...
I think for a while I'm going to concentrate on making people pages instead of scenarios, so I can avoid doing both at the same time...

We could have them share the page, or we could create a [[Red Front (Colwyn)]] and link to it from [[Red Front]].

Not without making the learning curve steeper.
I am experimenting with templates right now, and they could be used for that, but a new user would have problems figuring out what was going on. Remembering to create that second page is a counter-intuitive kink.
It would probably be best to just swallow the copy-and-paste unless we want to have a lot more duplicate views. Right now, we have All Scenarios, Historical Scenarios, Fictional Scenarios, and By Author. I think By Century is unnecessary -- it's more of a convenient split than a natural way of thinking about things. We'd be better off with theme-oriented categories/templates -- Roman Empire Scenarios, WW2 Scenarios, etc -- and those should not be just a table.
You can go to Red Front and click on What Links Here if you are losing track. Personally, I rely on the Categories at the bottom. If it's a category, it probably has a relevant table.

Do what you think is best.
