Of course there are massive generalizations going on here. For instance people are posting about women this and women that. However most of the posters here only have experience with women from the culture of the west. Many of the things said here wouldn't apply to women from eastern cultures. Well I only have experience with Philippine culture, but I'll generalize and say eastern.

Now that I think about it it seems likely you are right, though I don't have personal experience with other eastern countries. The Philippines catholic culture makes them very socially conservative, particularly out in the provinces where we live. Country girls, catholic country...so if you want to date one you bring a chaperone or forget it. They actually care about their reputations. Even holding hands while dating will get to slapped...I know from personal experience! Though it was just a light slap on my hand that was reaching for hers.

So, they are marriage minded and family oriented, looking for good providers to love and raise a family with.

Western 'girls just wanna have fun'. They seek bad boy types so often and when they get 'preggy' they go on the government dole, another kid raised without a father. Or they get into a marriage and spend the family into debt 'power shopping'. Or they get bored and bring home the clap. No doubt not all western women are like this, but I never found a single one and finally gave up looking and went to the Phils, thank God.

Id LIke you to know i met 4 phillopino woman while in hawaii and they were mean ladies. They scared the crap out of me. Well, going on what people have said about power being the major factor in how people act in relationships, one would expect it to be completely different in a third world country. In a culture where women are more restricted and where men still dominate more, you would expect men to be more powerful in the relationship. Particularly in the case of a society where women are more economically dependant on men. Social Psychological research has shown that in areas where it is harder for women to be independent economically and do well, the more they value wealth as a desirable trait in potential mates. One would expect in that case they would be far less free to go around playing games.

Shi, in our culture they get it in the soaps, on Oprah, from friends at work. Dolores tells me about the pressures she gets at work here in the US from friends. The anti male bias..., 'go out and have some fun', like life at home isn't.

I think there the man/women thing is normal, here in the US it's all screwed up. Analize this place...our home.

That's an interesting assessment, but I think here you can find some women that are like that, and up until the last while I would have argued without question that Denise was one of those girls.

Based on her recent conduct, yes reputation is important, and I've done my share to help her keep to that. I've not been impressed by everything she has done, but I don't go out of my way to air her dirty laundry.

That's part of the reason I stepped forward now, is because she has been struggling lately with this problem in particular, and I didn't want her to walk away from something that I love so much about her. She doesn't need to change to find someone who will love and care for her. She already has this.

As for going out, I agree, there is no need to be out all the time. But once in a while is something that shouldn't be a problem, to go out and do something together rather than sitting at home all the time.

Back on topic, I think gender relations as a whole have deteriorated to the point where they have become dysfunctional.

We know more on how to raise a healthy family than ever before, yet are doing a poor job of it. TRUE conservative traditions have been lost along the way.

There are many causes, but one among many that particularly disturbs me is the whole self-help culture. It's anything BUT, is counterproductive, and often breeds more problems than it solves.

Everyone is busy being a damn amatuer psychologist Dr. Phil wannabe they are almost LOOKING for problems to happen, instead of relaxing and just enjoying the things they have.
