I think my defence is simple - there is just no evidence pointing at me being the killer! There are plenty of clues floating around, like the killer being Starfleet or a diplomat, none of which refer to poor old Keiko. It was just a typical docpile that got me on the firing block. For shame!

Chief Officer's Log:

As the kills have continued, I find myself under considerable scrutiny from the surviving crewmembers. To my great surprise, the majority declined to accuse me, instead choosing Keiko O'Brien.

As one of the most placid and peaceful inhabitants on DS9, I cannot fathom why most of the crew would select her over myself, and other more notorious people, among them the Grand Nagus. But I cannot complain of their great faith in trusting me to continue to search for the killer. I can only hope to prove their faith worthwhile.

I am certain that the killer is the Nagus, and as such, I hope to convince the remainder of the crew that the evidence convicts him moreso than any of the rest. A simple glance at all the previous clues makes me wonder why the search has taken so long.

Chief Officer's Log:

In yet another attempt to frame me, one of my primary critics, Nog, sickened and died from poison. In much the same matter as previous deaths, the killer poisoned his cup of bloodwine, which I had given to him. At some point after I had poured him a glass to sample, the killer must have tampered with it to poison Nog.

As such, all I can say is to ask the remainder of the crew to end our sufferings and to ignore the blindingly obvious attempts to frame me as the killer. I would have no honour in poison, in the death of others through such insidious means, so why would I to settle grievances select such a method? Rest assured I would be able to settle such disputes in a more direct fashion.
