Apolyton list: 25 greatest Americans Full PM-box? Change here!

Since there's so many disagreements about the top 100 greatest Americans poll done by AOL, let's see how us intellectual Apolytonians think about it.

Each poster send me five (5) names by PM, email, or post on this thread before April 30 and I'll tabulate the results and see who us brainiacs like.

Try to use a proper name, such as "Neil Aldrin Armstrong" instead of "Buzz Armstrong." I can't take anything like "the guy who wrote about the mississippi river," or "Patrick Johannoson, inventor of the Dorito." If you feel that the person you're nominating is relatively obscure or you're not sure you can remember a full name and they're not well-enough known to use a last name, try to include a profession or accomplishment.

In the event that two people share a last name (Teddy and Franklin Roosevelt), use their full name.

Apolytonians are excluded from being on the list. Don't worry. Ted Striker will get an honorary mention.

So, get to thinking! I've got a start for us:

Bill Clinton
Johnny Cash
Franklin Roosevelt
Sam Walton
Douglas MacArthur

Put an end to popups!

only 5? this will be tough.

there will be no celebrities on my list, because celebrities are crap.

Lincoln, Washington, MLK, Bill Gates, and Booker T. Washington.

since his mailbox is full, let this post serve as my votes.

edit: and yes this list is finalized. There are other great ones, but there's just no room since I can only vote for 5.

You can count Fermi as American

Counting Einstein as American is disingenuous. None of his great work was done after moving to the US in 1933. He was already 54 years old at that time, which is ancient in theoretical physicist terms.

It is good to see the great racist Indian killer on the list, the man who told the Supreme Court to stuff it, the man who marched the Cherokee off their land, the man who routinely exceeded his orders as a commanding officer and who so alienated most Americans by his imperial style that he fractured the Democrat-Republican Party.

I agree

but him (and Ben Franklin) are the two that I think others might vote for
