I have both, and don't play Crossfire at all. I did at first, and for quite a while. I find the "new factions" to be contrived at best. They don't add anything new to the game, often repeating the same things the original faction leaders say.
As far as the game itself, it shouldn't have ever been a new game. At best it should have been a FREE upgrade, or patch, not an expansion pack. Just a way of getting a few more bucks out of the fans.
I find the original game much more pure, untainted by the success the game was to achieve. The factions are believable, well except for Miriam being so aggressive. This is not a Christian trait.
They do however have real personality. I can't say this for SMACX. Sometimes it's hard to not think of them as actual people, in there actions. The way they carry them out of course leaves a lot to be desired though, from a tactical stand point.
I did play the original factions in SMACX for a bit, but the game itself is just not as good. A SP or two are just too powerful, and everything else is just fluff.
Well, at least we have a choice as to which one we like. To each their own.

Comrade Tassadar
I don't see what you find so funny. There is a big difference between a fundamentalist Christian, and someone that calls themselves one.
Miriam is more like the Muslim faith, not a Christian fundamentalist.

quote: How ironic. What do you know about Islam, anyway? |
One of the dumbest things I've every seen on this forum. After 911, the War in Iraq and all the news coverage, how could I not know. How could you not know. Maybe you live in a cave! Unbelievable. I really and truly hope that you're just being a smart ass. I'd hate to think you really didn't know anything about the Muslim faith and mindset.
quote: Ever heard of the Crusades? |
Next to dumbest thing I've heard. People that do things in the name of God are not necessarily Christian Fundamentalists. They can call themselves whatever they want, but that don't make it so.
I'm not the first one to post this about Miriam in the first place.
See this topic, and Dissident's reply.

I have, several times. I don't just read what the media feed me, either. It is informative to hear others' viewpoints, and I can't look up yours on the web, at least not without more information about you.

You're the one who has disrespected me. I'm am a Christian Fundamentalist.

I didn't think I had disrespected you, but now I feel sorry for you, assuming your claim is accurate.

And don't try to play games with me. You know very well that I'm not talking about all Muslims, but the Muslim extremists.
Before you mention it. There are no Fundamentalist extremists when it comes to war. As I said, they can call themselves that, but that doesn't make it so.
|
The term used to describe who you are referring to is fundamentalist, whether or not you like it. You don't get to change the dictionary, even if the term seems inaccurate.
quote:
I didn't say that. Read it again. The coverage of those events gave incite into the Muslim faith. Not the events themselves. They do not describe Islam in any way. Please don't tell me that you didn't see or read anything about the extremist Muslim factions after and during those events. |
Many Muslims disown the fundamentalists, but you lump Miriam in with the whole set. You don't even claim she'd be an extremist, rather you cast her as typical of the billion or so who consider themselves Muslim.
And I suppose we've hijacked this thread...
